Over the past 5 years, rainfall in Syria has dropped over 70%, crippling over 75% of all rain-fed wheat crop in Syria. Due to this drought, which is a shifter of supply, the supply of wheat in Syria will decrease. Therefore, on a supply curve, the supply will shift to the left.

Overall implications of this will be mass starvation in Syria, causing a sharp rise in malnutrition. Due to the drought, the government will be forced to subsidize farmers who lost all their crop, increasing government spending as well.

Apple Iphone 2007

When Apple launched the iphone in 2007, it combined a phone, internet browser, and media player into one device. This greatly increased the demand for smartphones on a global level as many more people started to prefer a smartphone. This shift did not change price at all but it did increase quantity demanded. Society was changed as people started to rely more on their smartphones and the digital age of technology and advancements started to grow rapidly.

Alien spaceships

Due to the appearance of alien spaceships many people expect that the government will decrease the price of aluminum to allow more people to buy aluminum and protect themselves. Due to this people demand a lower quantity of aluminum since they think it will be cheaper later on. This causes the price to remain the same but the quantity demanded to greatly decrease. This changes society as many people start to use more paper products for food and different forms of metal for building since they want to hold off on buying aluminum until the prices drop.

FDA warnings on Tylenol

Recently, the FDA and Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr released a new study which suggests that the use of Tylenol during pregnancy can increase the likelihood of neurological diseases in babies. Examples of these neurological diseases include ADHD and Autism. Due to this new information, many people are refraining from using Tylenol. This shifter of demand is a change in tastes and preferences of the consumers. Overall, a decrease in the use of Tylenol could increase sales of its substitutes, such as Motrin. If these studies continue to be proven true, Tylenol could lose a lot of sales or it could be banned outright across America.
