I think we should both the mentees (in some cases mentors too) can have the opportunity of choose their mentor. e.g. allowing first few of meetings to them to build up some feelings of the mentoring programme. Suggestions:
1.  Structured workshops for HEA rather than generic 'writing retreats' which are easy not to prioritise amongst all of the other demands of work.
2.  Examples of how to write HEA applications in respect of the complex criteria.
3.  Promotion - support with development of scholarship for that part of the form but also support for all other parts of the form.  It is very disheartening and unjust for staff to be advised that they should be promoted but are then not approved by Faculty because of the way the form has been written.
4.  Mentoring for staff in order that they are able to mentor effectively.  This helps to avoid mismatches and mitigates/solves issues that occur.
5.  Support for developing funded  bids/writing in order that T/S staff can engage in areas of interest which have impact, and feel valued rather than 'lesser beings' in comparison to T/R staff.]]> 2022-03-11 13:41:37 UTC https://padlet.com/karenlowing2/6snc0020l0dpv1hg/wish/2090450013 https://padlet.com/karenlowing2/6snc0020l0dpv1hg/wish/2182758079 It seems that you can only get an open-ended teaching post once you already have teaching experience and quals. So, I wonder whether there might be ways of finding opportunities for those on research-only contracts to be involved in small amounts of teaching?  Maybe subject diversity is a challenge - but it might be helpful for some folk.
