What the puritans started trading off first was fur. Fur was one of the most things they would trade altogether. The things they decided to trade would depend on the kind of economy they would have. Shipbuilding, fishing, and lumber trades are the main things that put the economy together the way it was.

Who is the reason Massachusetts is a colony where the English came to settle? John Winthrop and Thomas Dudley! Both of them saw it as a great place to settle so they spoke to King James. King James allowed them to have the space between Massachusetts Bay and the Charles River. The puritans then sent John Endecott to start up a plantation in Salem. Therefore John Endecott is the real reason people started settling in Massachusetts.

Some people may find this a bit creepy but cool at the same time. The Salem Witch Trials! From 1692-1693 witches were a big topic in Massachusetts. Within the year, over 200 people were accused of being a witch and 20 were executed. Because religion was such a big thing everyone took in, they wanted to kill anyone they suspected to be a witch because they saw it as the work of satan. Later in time they did admit everything that happened, starting from accusing people all the way to executing them was a mistake.
Come here to visit and you'll get to see the very own places the trials took place!
