The symbol i chose for Jonas is question mark, i chose this because he is curious, asks lots of questions,is unexpectant of what he will get as his assignment and out going to finding out new things just like a question mark.

Jonas is eager because he is exited about his assignment that he was selected for and and is eager to get started with it.Jonas being the Receiver of memory gives him more freedom and liberty and he is free from sameness. The symbol i picked for Jonas is open handcuffs this symbol is perfect for Jonas because Jonas was once tied down and had to follow the same rules everyone else had to follow and now Jonas is free and can do as he pleases because he is in control of the Community.

Jonas at the end of the novel is rebellious because he is escaping the Community and going elsewhere to find what he longs for. Jonas left the Community because he wants to have what he didn´t have in the community like feelings and freedom to have your own choice. The symbol i picked to symbolize Jonas is a closed fist this to symbolizes Jonas because he is powering through everything that is going against him and the people that are going against his too.Jonas is powering through everything and everyone to find what he really wants in his life he wants freedom, choice and love and leaving the Community would give him all he wants and that is why i picked this symbol.

One conflict that Jonas has or problem that he faces in this story is the fact that there is sameness. This is a problem for Jonas because he does not like the fact that there is sameness and he is against it and want's to change it.This type of conflict is known as man vs society Jonas against sameness is a perfect example of this type of conflict. Jonas wants change but is unable to do anything the ways he lives in now have been like that for centuries and have not changed since then.

1. Use chp 3, pg 29, read 1st full paragraph and answer--What does this detail suggest about the role of the announcements in Jonas’s community? Be specific and support your answer. (Authors view point= to publicly shame people so they obey the rules)
YOUR ANSWER-- The detail suggests the announcements are to make sure that the people of the community are following the rules without pointing out who they are by saying their name.
2. Jonas’s community is highly regulated with rules. Read the sections about the rule against bragging (34). Answer and support-- What is the rule’s purpose in the community? Why does it exist? What impact does the rule have on the community?

YOUR ANSWER -- The rule's purpose is to make sure not to be rude by throwing you success in other peoples faces and its also a punishable mistake and comes with serious consequences in the Community this makes it harder for to talk about your successes without breaking the rules.
3. Which narrative point of view (POV) is used in The Giver? Use pg 67 to support your answer with text evidence with the sentence from the novel that proves the POV you chose.
YOUR ANSWER--The point of view is third person limited because on pages 66-67 the author writes ¨Jonas was certainly glad that that Assignment was taken; he would not have wanted it¨.
Use p. 82: How does Jonas feel upon leaving the auditorium? Which words make you think that? (support your answer)
YOUR ANSWER--I think Jonas feels stunned or surprised upon what he got for his assignment. I also think he feels uncomfortable because everyone was giving him all this new and important attention its like everyone worshiped him and his friend Asher was acting different too. I say/think this because Jonas says that when he was walking by everyone outside they made a path and moved apart just for him and looked at him differently and Asher stuttered to talk to him too.
How has Jonas’s attitude shifted slightly in chapter twelve?
YOUR ANSWER-- Jonas' attitude shifted in chapter twelve because he is eager because of his assignment as we read Jonas was exited to start is first day of training and when the Giver gave him one memory he wanted to get more memories but he couldn´t.Jonas had became a bit hasty but he knew he had to wait and that he would get his memories soon enough, so he waited.
Define a protagonist & give an example from the video or from a story you know.
YOUR ANSWER -- A protaganist is the opposing force or character who leads the conflict against the protagonist. The protagonist in the Giver is Jonas. I know/say this because all the focus is almost always on Jonas and the antagonist is The Community i say/know this because The Community is all the same and against any diffrence and Jonas does not like or support the fact everything is the same.

The climax in my opinion was when Jonas escaped from the community. This is the climax in my opinion because this part was full of suspense and excitement. this part in particular was very fun to read because of all the high energy action that was taking place. Jonas was under a lot of pressure of the world and was struggling to keep Gabe and himself alive and safe. Jonas took on so may risks in this part by taken Gabe, stealing food and his father bike and because of all he was doing and all the risks he took on he was rushed especially the fact that he took Gabe so he could not say good bye to the Giver and he left as soon as he could and that is why i think this is the climax of the story. A quote that really stands out to me is¨The courage to imagine the otherwise is our greatest resource, adding clolor and supense to all our life¨ -Danial J Boorstin
