For years the debate of whether climate change is a problem that can be dealt with through the current system of bureaucracy and has plagued the international space as some countries attempt to reform and others drag behind. Some questions that surface from this dilemma include, "Is fixing this issue worth American resources and will it have an effect on the global climate?", "Is this change something that can be accomplished?", and "Is climate change even a problem?"

Is fixing this issue worth American resources and will it have an effect on the global climate?

While some people may believe that it is simply too late to reverse the effects of climate change we have already set in motion, or that there are things we can do to have an effect on climate change but it is just not worth it due to the fact that climate change is a global issue and other countries who are big contributors to the climate crisis are unwilling to change their ways, there is a side where it is not too late and there are things that our nation can do to help with the climate change crisis. People who support combatting climate change believe that it is in the best interest of our society to do so, but disagree on the extent of effort and resources that should be expended to prevent or mitigate the effects of climate change. Some people on this side have an "at all costs" ideology regarding this issue. They believe that the cost of damages caused by human induced climate change greatly out weigh the cost it would take to implement policies and make actual changes to our lifestyles to combat the climate crisis. The solutions to climate change are expensive. Others believe that the cost of taking measures to combat climate change should not exceed the benefits that such expensive measures will produce. Multiple studies including one done by the University of California, Davis, have shown that climate change does negatively effect Economic Growth. This is where people who believe in putting resources in to attempting to fix climate change vary in beliefs. The ideas of how much money and resources should be put in to fixing this issue should actually be put in vary highly from person to person.

While we can't immediately stop or reverse the effects of climate change, we can alter the stigma around whether it is our fault or job to fix it, because it is. This problem was made by us and can only be fixed by us. It really is a race against time, the planet is becoming more volatile with weather and temperatures all around the globe, if we wait too long our world will be swallowed by natural disaster, global temperature change, and rising sea levels that will sink and boil humanity to extinction. Scientists say there are approximately 50 years until climate change becomes irreversible and the most basic ecosystems begin to collapse.

The melting of the icecaps, California on fire, and hurricanes of mass destruction are all the more common because of global warming. Scientists say that the combination of greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation is quickly heating the planet and leading to irreparable damage. Rising temperatures and sea levels are sure to lead to ecological collapse in many locations, interrupting food chains and killing wildlife. In the area of agriculture changing climate is leading to new difficulties when farming. When torrential rain or an unexpected event interrupts planting, treatment, or harvesting it is possibly catastrophic for a farmer's lively hood.

Kate Yoder of Grist.org, a nonprofit media organization specialized in climate change, states that nearly one sixth of American's do not believe in the scientific backing of climate change, and nearly a third of American's do not believe that humans are responsible for the damage.
The strong opinions from our polarized government keep people from opening their viewpoints to other sides. It has been seen that each side of the political spectrum has a different method of debate. Generally, democrats tend to use lots of logos which goes into explaining the exact problem. The Republicans tend to go towards the ethos and pathos joking and drawing emotions to get people to side with them. It is difficult for each side to persuade the other because they shut their openness to others down before they speak, and the methods used do not demonstrate what the other likes to hear.

Over the years, we have seen many new changes in attempt to provide a cleaner eco-friendly energy source, but in reality, they produce a similar amount of waste. Having electric cars may save the environment from the use of gasoline, but the mining of lithium for the batteries the cars require is also not sustainable. There also is little supporting evidence that the effects of them will be any better for the environment than the cars we have now. With solar power plants and wind turbines, the technology and parts of the machinery need replacement fairly frequently. Since there is no way to sustainably dispose of them, they also end up in landfills which are not good for the environment. These options are all extremely advertised as solutions when they are actually similar but costly replacements.

Water
Across the globe people experience water scarcity in many different regions with different levels of scarcity. Climate change not only causes droughts worldwide but also takes part in causing floods. Changes in the Earth's temperatures even of the slightest causes shifts in the water cycle creating either droughts and/or flooding. With the rapid increase of global warming the droughts and/or floods would only increase in damage which not only negatively decreases our sources of water but also harms wildlife. With flooding damages to homes and other buildings can cause a huge setback and a lot of debt due to the repairs that must be made.

Rainforests
Rainforests one of the popular things people say when thinking of the top things that sustain the most environmental damage. Rainforests provide the habitats for many wildlife. Many species that are residing here are some of the rarest on earth that you may only find in some of the rainforests like the Amazon rainforest. Over the many years climate change has only gotten worse. As of today the
Amazon has already lost more than one third of the forest itself. This is not just by climate change but also by agriculture and deforestation. Due to the heavy decrease of the Amazon many homes to wildlife will be gone which creates these creatures the high possibility of going extinct, and the increase amount of green house gases which contributes to an increase in global warming.
