I agree because PE gives an alternative way and unique way of learning.
3. PE can help with stress and anxiety. this is important because people will emotionally benefit from PE.

Do you think PE is a Childs most important subject and why?
Yes I think PE is the most important because you can benefit physically and emotionally from PE.

3 things I disagree with and why?
1. I didn't agree with the point that most people who take part in PE are inactive. This is because people can still be active outside of the PE environment.
2. Low income families can also still be highly active funding doesn't always impact how active people are.
3. PE should be a core subject throughout school as it provides children with an active lifestyle and this could influence them to take a sport up outside of school.

2. That it helps children become letter learners/ better versions of themselves as not every child excels academically.

3. It improves mental health, I agree with this as releases endorphins what is a feel good factor.

3 things I disagree with-

1. That not doing exercise is the main reason obese children get bullied, under perform and have poor employment as an adult. Pe can’t be the reason children get bullied or struggle to get a job growing up.

2. The comparison of no activity is the new smoking, I think these are two different type of problems with different outcomes. No activity can be mended in the sense it’s never too late to start but with smoking the damage can’t be amended.

3. That 9/10 low income neighborhoods children are overweight and this is just down to the fact of no activities in school, I think it should also be put down to the lifestyle they have been shown by their parents and the diet they have give them.

Is PE the most important subject-

I believe it is as it doesn’t just help their physical wellbeing it helps them mentally, this has been proven that active children perform better in all subjects in school and have a active healthy lifestyle. If they have to do PE from a young age like the other core subjects they will see this as normal going through life and using the skills they have learnt all the way into adult life.

I think this because students are getting 2 hours a week for this subject but most of that time is spent on changing and setting up the equipment. 2) I agree that PE helps with cognitive function and mental health. This is because PE can release chemicals that improves the brains infrastructure and can improve their self-esteem. 3) I agree with the statement that younger people aren't exercising. This is because more and more young people are spending most of their time in front of screen (phones, game consoles etc.) therefore this is stopping them from getting the exercise they need.

Do I believe PE is an important subject?:
I believe PE is a important subject for students. This is because this help them reduce the risk of them getting any chronic diseases which could lead to early death. In addition, I believe PE is an important subject because this has physical and emotional benefits if the students are partaking in this.

3 things I disagree with + why?:
1) I disagree with the statement that 'inactivity is the new smoking'. This is because I believe that smoking itself is more harmful than inactivity. 2) I also disagree that lo income children and neighborhood are more likely to be obese. This is because activities like football and running can be done without needing much money. 3) I disagree that obese children become obese adults. This is because the obese children can learn the effects of exercise therefore allowing them to change their lifestyle.

3 key points:
1.PE should be a fundamental subject alongside English, Maths and Science.
2. In America there are 14 million children with obesity.
3. If Education in general is a fundamental right, then shouldn't PE be one too?

3 points I agree with and why:
1. Exercise has proven to aid children in their academics. There have been studies carried out to illustrate that exercise teaches children perseverance skills, but also the fact that during exercise, the neurotransmitter sertraline is released.
2. PE provides children the opportunity to become a better person within themselves as it helps children to develop their communication and social skills.
3. PE is the only class that benefits the mind, body and spirit. PE is one of the only subjects that allows children to release any stressors or added pressure through sport, meaning they become more relaxed. In academic subjects, they can be quite content heavy and can require a strong focus for a long period of time, as opposed to PE allowing children to be active outdoors through a range of activities.

3 points I disagree with and why:
1. 'Inactivity is the new smoking'. I disagree with this because smoking can cause faster and much worse health effects on the body than inactivity.
2. 'Childhood obesity inevitably leads to adulthood obesity, which can lead to a shorter lifespan'. I disagree with this as children can get help to lose weight / become healthier. Children can go through different life situations that can cause their weight to fluctuate.
3. 'Low income neighbourhoods are 9 times more likely to be overweight'. The speaker claimed that low-income schools had high levels of inactivity due to lack of sports facilities, but did not take into account the fact that walking, running etc still classes and physical activity as they help to increase heart rate.

Do I believe PE is the most important subject?
I believe that PE is the only subject that helps students physically, mentally and emotionally. PE gives students a chance to release any stressors during the day to aid their mental well-being. PE has also been proven to provide stability in each of their lives as it prevents health conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, cancer and heart disease from developing. However, I do not believe that PE is the most important subject because it foes not teach a child the basics of English and Maths that every child needs for any career pathway. Whilst PE teaches children to have good communication and social skills, it does not adequately teach them the level of English and Maths they need that them subjects alone do.

Physical activity can improve physical disabilities such as autism.
3. Physical activity improves character therefore children can gain confidence and feel better about themselves. Especially when working in classrooms after activities.
3 things you agree with and why?
1. I agree that more money should be put into PE departments across the UK because there is not enough money for more sports to be introduced. An example is a new sport called 'Kinball' is fun and engaging however it can cost a lot of money for the equipment.
2. "Inactivity is the the new smoking" it is known that smoking can cause lots of health problems and chronic disease and so can a sedentary lifestyle. Another point is that "40% of cancer is linked into obesity"
3. "Younger people are not working out". I agree with this statement because often younger children are put off by working out (especially girls) due to stereotypes and what they think of their appearance.
3. Do I think PE is the most important subject?
I believe that PE is the most important subject as it is a lesson on how our own body and physical health. There are many benefits the PE can include a good physical, mental and social life which can be carried onto in later life.
4. 3 things I don't agree on?
1. I can only disagree on one point and that is that parents should be the ones to make their children work out, I do believe parents should help guide and encourage PE however teenagers and children should already be educated on the benefits of physical activity and how that can better their life.

I agree when he says that PE is treated like the least important subject, i agree with this because out of all the subjects in school PE is on your timetable the least giving students a maximum of 3 hours a week for a PE lesson and a lot of this time is taken up by getting changed into kit and setting up the equipment.

Do i believe PE is the most important subject:
I believe that PE has good benefits to it making it an important subject, as PE helps the body and the mind which i think is important in students to develop in every lesson.

1 point i disagree with:
i disagree with the statement he made about inactivity is just as bad as smoking, i think if you are inactive you can redeem yourself and start doing exercise however when you are a smoker it will damage your body permanently so once the body has been harmed it cant go back to its full potential.

Inactivity is the new smoking is highly exaggerated in my opinion as the harm levels are no where near as significant as not doing activity. Moderate exercise will be enough to help young children improve in all aspects of life.

I agree with:
1. Being focused on more, more expenses used to support the subject. This will encourage more people to get involved when there are better equipment and a more expansive opportunity with sports.
2. Give the opportunity to get involved to all pupils and let them make the decision whether to carry on participating or not take part.
3. Making the time to do moderate exercise will help relieve stress and anxiety giving pupils time to forget about struggles and become more calm with themselves.

is Physical Education the most important subject?
In my opinion my PE is definitely a subject that needs to be focused on more with finances etc. However, I don't think that it should be made into a core subject and made to be looked at the same as Maths, English and Science because these 3 subjects give pupils a lot more opportunities with jobs in later life than PE does.

I disagree with:
1. Other students might not have the time to do this with other commitments in their life.
2. Adults should give the freedom for the children to decide for themselves whether they want to/ what to take part in as this may help the children enjoy the subject more if they have more freedom to pick and choose what they want to do.
3. I disagree that the families that have a much lower income to their homes have the higher possibility of obesity as it costs nothing to do exercise with no equipment just the clothes and shoes they have at home, for example body weight exercise, runs etc.

That every school should provide and give the opportunity to get involved and receive skills and information on how to live a healthy lifestyle and why pe is so important. This will allow them to decide if they want to carry on participating.
2.Physical education allows the pupils to educate and become and build the character that they need to be adults.
3.Physical education is a highly affective way of people being able to deal with life stresses as it puts your mind at ease and when your playing a sport it allows you not to think about that stress and focus on your sport.

I disagree with:
1. I disagree with that they said that childhood obesity will always lead to adult hood obesity and that they have a shorter life spam and this is because people can change their lives around and become healthy and they will have their own mind set of how they feel about their body and if they want to change themselves for the better.
2. Another point I disagree with is that inactivity is being seen as the new smoking. I disagree with this as there are many people in the world that might not want to take part in a sport or an activity as they might feel they will get bullied if they aren't good enough. Also some people don't have time to balance multiple commitments so will find it hard to join activities and become active.
3. The final point I disagree with is the point that apparently families which have much lower income are more likely to have problems with obesity. i disagree with this point as taking part in physical education costs nothing with no equipment as you only need clothes and shoes which allows you to do running, walks and body weight exercises.

Is Physical Education the most important subject?
Physical education is one of the most important subjects for children and students and this is because physical education helps to promote physical and emotional health and this is beneficial as it allows you to have a healthy body and a healthy mind set. Also the health benefits and the feel good chemicals which are realised during sport allows people who suffer from anxiety or depression or even just life stresses it allows them to forget about it all for a few hours and it allows the body to calm down. From my own experience working in a school physical education department I have seen the affect that sports can have on students as it allows them to socialise and be able to de stress from the other subjects if they are struggling with them. Physical education also allows helps the children a lot for the future as throughout their time in education physical education allows children's to learn better and focus a lot better during lessons.

Why is PE a students Most Important Subject?

3 KEY POINTS
1) Physical Education should have a higher importance in schools.
2) Making Physical Education a priority in schools will help reduce obesity levels.
3)Physical Education can improve persons health both physically and mentally.

AGREE
1) I agree that physical education should be a core subject in schools because I believe that it's important that from a young age people are taught how to look after themselves through fitness and nutrition. If Physical Education was more of a priority in schools and children where taught the importance of what to eat and how much exercise is required for a healthy active lifestyle, just like their times tables, I know this would help reduce obesity levels across the globe.
2) Another point made by SIMON W, was that physical activity is like therapy for the mind. I agree with this statement as on a personal level I can relate. If I'm ever struggling with low moods, exercise, especially running, helps make me feel good. It is also proven by the "Male Clinics Study, showing the release of endorphins upon exercise. and has slight impact on depression and anxiety."
3) I agree that physical activity helps improve a students academic level. This is because exercise helps a persons mental health and if their mood is better and they are feeling good, with less: worries, stress, anxiety then they will be more focused and concentrated and will perform better and take in more knowledge. It is proven by a research study with a a year of "8th graders in Illinois. After exercise there test scores increased between 11 to 22%" (SIMON W).

DO YOU THINK PE IS A CHILD'S MOST IMPORTANT SUBJECT?
However much I value the importance of PE , I don't feel it's more important than English. Although it's important a child is taught how to keep fit and healthy, I think the basis of that can be passed on from parents/carers. I believe it is more important that in schools children are taught how to read, write and communicate with others as it is more of a necessity in everyday life.

DISAGREE
1) I disagree that Physical Education is more important than the current core subjects e.g. Maths, English and Science. Every subject has its own importance fr different reasons. Some of the most important factors of PE are actually covered in Biology, which is a core subject. However I feel PE should turn it's priority within it;s own curriculum into a more classroom based form of learning. In the early years of school from my memory it was only ever core PE. Students need to be taught how to live a healthy lifestyle through nutrition and fitness. Then after that it should be up to the student whether they want to learn the basic skills of different sports.
2) Another point made in the video i disagree with is that the budget the PE department gets in schools is effecting children's healthy lifestyle. I believe to make an impact, it's not about the facilities and equipment a school has for sports, its about the time and effort a teacher puts in about expressing the importance of exercise is to living a long and healthy life. Not every student enjoys sports, so having extra funds for fancy table tennis bats isn't going to solve the the obesity and depression problem. However everyone wants to look good and feel good.
3) I disagree with what SIMON W says in the video about schools being the only place for students from low income neighbourhoods to exercise. This is because, if you look at low income countries for example a lot of African counties, children's fitness levels are really high. In my opinion you don't need an expensive gym membership, an expensive bike, an expensive pair of football boots to keep fit and healthy. Nobody is stopping someone from going for run every morning and doing 20 press-ups in their room before they go to sleep.

There has been a link between good executive functions and exercise

3 things you agree with
Should be a core subject just like maths and english as all students need exercise and to realise the health benefits from it.
I agree If students do not understand the principles of health and fitness they risk having chronic disease which would then cause their life expectancy to degree.
Not enough resources that go into PE at school which I agree with as many school believe that more money needs to be spent on other core subjects and disregard that PE is also an essential subject that students need so they don’t become obese.

I believe that PE is an important subject in schools because it allows students to create lifelong skills that they would not be able to get from in other subjects but I personally don’t think it is the most important. Students need exercise and to be healthy every week so PE gives them that as well as a place where they can relax but maths and english are the most important as they give you the skills you mostly need in life.

In low income areas children are 9 times more likely to be overweight and I disagree with this as obesity is being tackled all across the country not in just some parts.

1. PE is the only subject to promote physical and emotional health, cultivate character that is needed to become productive adults and help children to learn better.
2. PE can also help to improve mental health as even moderate amounts of exercise can release endorphins, that are shown to help improve mild depression and anxiety.
3. PE needs to be more prioritized because it is not a matter of limited resources but instead a matter of PE not being prioritized.

Points I agree with:
I Strongly agree that PE and moderate levels of activity can help to improve mild depression and anxiety as it has been shown to release endorphins which are known as the "happy drug".
I also agree that PE can help children improve cognitively. Like the neuroscience study reported that out of a group of 9 yrs, the children who took part in a walk before the test did significantly better than those who did not.
Finally i agree that PE is very important for helping children develop their brains. I think this because it helps cells bind together which is how the brain holds and stores information. Exercise also creates new nerve cells in the hippocampus which is the center of learning and memory.

Do i think PE is the most important subject for children?
I do agree that PE should be considered as one of the most important subjects for children. I think this because like i said earlier it helps them to develop both physically and mentally and is the only subject to do that. I also think this because it can help children find a sport that they enjoy and then can hopefully continue playing that sport throughout their life. For example, Willie who has autism and had some behavioral issues was introduced to running. He now competes in local races, and has described his new found passion as the best therapy he has had over the years.

What do i disagree with?
I disagree with the point that PE is considered as the least important subject. I think this because in my own personal experience some other subjects like drama, and life course were seen as less important. However, i do agree that PE should be viewed more highly.
I also disagree with the point that no exercise is being called the new smoking. This is because some people may eat a very balanced diet however, do minimal exercise but they could still be healthy. I think the health of a smoker would be much worse compared to someone who eats a balanced healthy diet, but does not exercise.

I agree with this point as i believe making all children participate in Physical Education would have a positive effect on the results they achieve in their other subjects as a result of the mental benefit of PE.
2) Exercise can help people thrive and can also help deal with real life stresses. I believe the effect exercise has on the brain can help improve a persons mental health.
3) A slight change of resources would result in a substantial change in learning. In subjects like Physical Education, having the correct resources makes learning much easier and allows the student to participate.
3 Things i disagree with
1) Inactivity is the new smoking, i don't think this is a fair comparison as i believe the effects of smoking are much worse than inactivity.
2) Low income areas are more likely to become obese. i disagree with this because there is many forms of exercise that can be done which doesn't require money, also public gyms are becoming more popular all over the world and are widely accessible.
3) PE is seen as the least important subject, i think this is wrong as some schools specialise in certain sports, therefore they consider it the most important.

1) If a student doesn't understand other subjects they'll be fine but if they do not understand the principles of health and fitness they risk chronic disease and early death.
2)Every school should give every student with the opportunities that'll give them a healthy start in life and with the education and skills that will give them a fit lifetime.
3) A slight change in priorities with a slight change in recourses will result in a substantial change in learning by student.

3 things you agree with and why

1)P.E should be a core subject like math, English, science and history. I agree with this because P.E offers escapism from students daily life. Many students suffer from serve anxiety through their daily routine at school. P.E allows them to not only better themselves physically through activity but have fun with their school friends.
2)P.E helps children build character to perform better in academic subjects and be more productive. I agree with this statement because through participation in sport, children can work together to achieve a common goal. They will thrive off competition between each other and will be pushed to do their best.
3) Exercise helps kids do better in academic subjects. I agree because it has been shown that after physical activity a child will be more focus. This can be especially true for a child who has a lot of energy and my find it hard to concentrate to work. Regular activity can help to relieve built up energy and restlessness and better concentration.

Do you think P.E is a child's most important subject and why?
I do believe that physical education is a child's most important subject in school. A child most be taught from their earliest years about the importance of physical health and fitness - without it they will have a decreased quality of life over all. If they understand the importance of looking after their health and fitness they can lead happier and healthier lives.

3 things i disagree with
1)I disagree that overweight or obese children perform worse in the class. I do not see the correlation between weight and the quality of work a child can produce in a classroom. The level of their work is due to the quality of teaching and amount of studying in school and at home.
2)I also feel that it is wrong to say that overweight/obese people are the "new smokers". Even though they may share similar health issues like increased risk of cancers, their health problems have been cause through different circumstances and have different means of treatment and over all are difficult to compare.
