         <title>The leap that was present for me was the active self-direction.  We had the freedom to try things and succeed or fail.  It was the freedom on choice (within reason) that was helpful for me as a student. </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The writing I was doing was going to be used for a federal judge in a decision that would impact people's lives. Relevance = check.  The expectations were, necessarily, incredibly high - you aimed for perfection.  The feedback I received forced me to view my writing in a new way and recognize the gaps I in everything from grammar to constructing clear logical arguments where every step of the argument was built on and connected to the prior step in a clear, rational manner.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Students are able to collaborate their thoughts and ideas as a group and then express them on the whiteboard. This way all students can have a say. The whiteboards are also large, so multiple students can be engaged at a time within the group. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>I feel like the rigor was there in my experience creating a cell model. I had to recall and explain the parts of an animal cell through what I created. I would also include the leap "high expectations with unlimited opportunities". With an opportunity to create a model, I was able to demonstrate my "success" through something other than a multiple choice assessment or a paper. </strong></p>]]></description>

To me this is an important reminder of how often students ask "why do I need to know this?"          <description><![CDATA[<p>I think relevance was huge as I saw the learning experience as important and relevant to "real life", also anytime/anywhere as many of these learning experiences also spilled over into my everyday life. Since this involved science research, civic and social engagement was also present. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I feel I'm in the minority on this one.  I went to high school in the northeast during the 80's.  I call it "my way or the highway era."  I recall high expectations and rigor in most of my classes- but not much else.  There was little customization or active self-direction.  I recall old text books from the decade before and I remember feeling like much of my school day wasn't connected in any real way to my future.   </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I struggle to pinpoint a single learning experience, but my mind is flooded with memories of great mentors who shaped my growth. They modeled effective communication, care, and compassion. They taught me to question authority, to think critically, and to always pick myself up and move forward. These influences align with the Leaps of <em>Connection &amp; Community</em>, as I thrived in relationship-rich environments where I felt deeply known and supported, and <em>Social Responsibility &amp; Action</em>, as I learned to engage with diverse perspectives and challenge the status quo. Their lessons continue to guide me, proving that true learning happens not in isolated moments but in the collective wisdom of those who invest in us.</p><p>4o</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I think in my example of my memorable learning experience the LEAPs I see standing out are Rigorous Learning and Active Self-Direction. There is also some belonging and connection there. When students are allowed to develop their own project in a group as they work together each of their strengths lend something to the project.  They learn from and about each other.</p>]]></description>
