Although much of Roman technology was a recreation of others, it was better and more useful than the original consisting of transportation, weapons, and architecture.
1. Inventions/innovations
First of all, Rome had many inventions and innovations. Rome recreated some of the aqueducts. They were a recreation of the original aqueduct near the east. Roman aqueducts consisted of conduits, pipelines, and tunnels that brought water from far away from water sources. They supplied the city with water for baths, fountains, and houses of wealthy Romans. Roman aqueducts used gravity, not pumps. They had a slight decline in the structure to help provide movement for the water. Other innovations include arcades to move water over valleys and hills. Although the aqueduct sometimes leaked, Romans developed a water system to collect the leaking water and clean the debris out (Labate).
2. Transportation
Romans had a vast system of transportation. Romans developed bridges in the second century BCE. The bridges were huge made out of stone, arches. The first bridges were made of stone and iron clamps. Then they developed concrete and used that instead. The bridges normally consisted of concrete core and a stone facing block. The use of concrete increased the durability and strength of the bridges. Romans were also the first to fully understand the use of arches. The bridges consisted of arches which consisted of individual arch stones (Labate).
3. Architecture
The most important Roman contribution to technology was the invention of concrete. The inventions of concrete allowed the Romans to create impressive buildings that were strong. Concrete was created late in the 3 century. Roman concrete was made with volcanic dust as a mortar mixed with water. Then they started to revise and enhance the concrete. They added crushed terracotta to the mixture to make it stronger and waterproof (Labate).

Economy

Although Rome was sometimes unified, the economy of Rome was always chaotic and unorganized with social class treatment, tradition-breaking, and the unorganized government.
1. Social class treatment
The Roman Empire economy needed some work. First of all, the Romans didn't treat others equally. The Senate was made up of Patricians rather than Plebeians. The patricians got a lot of lands and didn't give much to the poor forcing them to be in the army. Although the Roman Empire made the gap between PLebians and patricians smaller, they still had a huge difference (Wasson).
2. Tradition breaking
Although many traditions were broken to create the empire sometimes they took it way to far. Religion played a huge role in the tradition-breaking. Everyone believed in the same Gods and ideas in Rome. Then, Christianity came into play. After Christianity came into play, some people believed in it more so then they broke the traditions. After this event, the whole city broke into debate and arguments about which was right (Andrews).
3. Government
The government in ancient Rome was very shaky. Sometimes the fact of having both an emperor and Senate worked and other times it didn't. Not really focusing on the government itself, the arguments that broke out in the public eye involving government officials scared the citizens. Arguments broke out a lot in front of people but when a government official did it it was worse. When a Roman citizen saw this they thought how the city wasn't doing to well and if the whole city would crater in. They were worried about their safe being in the city. They wanted to feel safe and if the city was safe the emperor wouldn't be having these arguments with the other officials (Andrews).

Although the Roman Government worked at times, mostly the Roman Empire was corrupt and chaotic because they had unorganized rulers, uncooperative military, and not a clear system of laws.
1. Organized rulers
The Roman empire did not have an organized group of rulers. There was supposed to be a group that was organized but the Senate was unable to control the emperor. The closer to the fall the less organized it got. After something good would happen they would take a break and not care about organizations. Later, they were getting attacked and they weren't ready and was conquered (Emmett).
2. Military
The military broke traditions too. Also, the military decided they too good so they didn't have to try. After they had this mindset they started to lose fights they should have won. They also started to break traditions. They had used the same battle formation for a while and then they decide to change it up. They ended up losing a lot of soldiers and lost the battle. They should have just stayed with their original that has worked for many centuries (Emmett).
3. A clear system of laws
The laws were unclear sometimes and didn't apply to all. The law was always questioned and the emperor was put under pressure to answer. This applies with religion too. Questions were asked about laws and religion laws all the time. The emperor could do whatever he wanted so he would just make up rules on the fly during the fall of the empire. Overall, the system of laws was ok until the fall started and then it started to collapse leaving the citizens to fend for themselves (Andrews).

Although some people broke traditions in religion, religion unified the Empire by including church meetings, creative arts, and entertainment.
1. Church meetings
Romans often had many meetings and sacrifices for the church. They had human sacrifices and animal sacrifices made. They were to show the Gods how much they were respected. Many people went to the churches to pray for loved ones sick or ones in need. If they felt they have done something wrong they go there to show their apology. The churches were like a safe place for people. Many people worked at the churches to show their sacrifice to the Gods and marriage down the window ("Religion").
2. Creative arts/dances
The Romans Empire had many different arts and dancing they took part in. They had many dances. People would come and entertain people with their dances and perform dances for the Gods and try to please them. The dances normally consisted of people in an organized line or formation, performing a ritual or religious dance. Sometimes they had music and some people humming to go along with it but normally it was the dances that set them apart from regular entertainment or religious dances ("Religion").
3. Entertainment
With religion, many people performed for entertainment. They performed dances, rituals, plays, and athletic events for the gods. They performed plays that included the Gods and their victory. They also performed plays on the Gods weaknesses and how they worked through that. They performed the plays to show the Gods how much they care and know about them. All of the Roman Empire was based on religion and the Gods. Traditions were also a big part of the Roman Empire religion. Traditions were followed by all and were well respected by most. If someone broke a big tradition they would be banned from the city or disrespected. Overall, religion and pleasing the Gods was a big part of the Roman Empire ("Religion").

Although the government in the Roman Empire was sometimes corrupt, having an emperor and a senate, the advancement of weapons and the enforcement of laws helped unite the Roman Empire.
1. Technology weapons
Romans had weapons that gave them advantages in the battlefield for centuries. The weapons were used in both defense and offense in the siege warfare. They were the most technologically advanced weapons in the Roman past . The Greeks first made the ballista. The Romans made the ballista stronger and more durable than the original. They used metal in many ways for the bow that made it lighter and easier to carry and increased the accuracy by 25 percent. With the new accuracy of the bow, it was a way more useful weapon than the original. Another example of a weapon was a catapult. The catapults could launch heavier projectiles than the bow but in less of a range. The catapult was a relatively simple design and was very reliable while the bow had many parts and wasn't reliable. Since the catapult was so heavy they had to build it on the site instead of earlier (Labate).
2. System of Rulers
Rome had a clear and working group of rulers. Romans had a Senate and a ruler. The Senate was there to control the ruler and help rule the Empire. The Senate was used a lot because the emperor would sometimes go off and make bad decisions but the Senate was there to help make the right decision. The Senate also helped rule the army and help them practice and learn. Also, while the emperor was off at war they kept the city sane and organized. They made the decisions for the emperor and helped the emperor make the decisions ("Rome, ancient").
3. Enforcement of Laws
Romans enforced many laws to keep the city organized. Although some of the laws were unfair or unorganized at times they were enforced. If someone broke the law than they were considered not part of the Empire. The emperor was very strict about the laws but could break the laws if needed. The Senate enforced the laws with the military also helping. Near the fall, the enforcement did go off a cliff a little bit but they enforced them for over 500 years which is much harder than expected. The USA does enforce some laws but if someone doesn't follow them than they either go to jail or get a ticket. In the Roman Empire if you didn't follow a rule than you were treated as someone not even from the Empire. They called them a curse from their Gods and was very worried they did something wrong ("Rome, ancient").

The Roman Empire lasted for 500 years which is a pretty long time. They used technology, government, and religion to unite civilization and help them survive for hundreds of years. The fall was a catastrophe because it was such a good empire with great stability.

Overall the Roman Empire left the biggest and greatest legacy. The Roman Empire excelled in Technology with their aqueducts, their concrete, and their bridges and roads. They had some trouble with their economy and well being of the city but they survived and made up for it in their technology and religion. Even though the Roman government was unorganized, it made up for it in their strength and advanced technology. Although the Roman Empire had a terrible fall and had trouble with trade and economy like every other civilization, they had a great empire excelling in technology, religion, and government for the 500 years it lasted from 27 BCE to 476 AD.

When Rome was held up by the Republic, people fought over power. The empire was created to help the city and because it was needed. If the Republic was doing so well then why did it need help or saving? For the last 100 years of the Roman republic, the senators were fighting over power. The republic started civil wars that weakened their civilization. All the senators just wanted power and weren't in the best interest of the city. I have to admit the Empire wasn't perfect but no civilization was perfect. Also, the empire was a compromise. They kept the Senate and although most of the power was given to the emperor, some of the power was still given to the Senate.
