However, in the course, I realized the large impact that Donatello’s David has had on not only Michaelangelo’s work, but art for centuries to come. I particularly enjoy how Donatello choses to depict David as a very clearly young boy, as opposed to the strong, older David that Michelangelo depicts. Despite the obstacles that she encountered, Vigée Le Brun was able to become extremely successful as a court painter. Yayoi Kusama was one of my favorite artists from this year, as I loved her willingness to push the boundaries of the art world and to incorporate her strong personality into her works.
