Much of the north is high, flat plains. Most people make money by farming or herding. Most common religion is Muslim and Christianity. North central region is very populated and in the North east there is a large state of emergency zone due to the common floods in the Southern areas.  
West- Countians the largest city in Africa. Used to be rainforest but is now mostly savanna. Most live in cities. Yoruba is the largest ethnic group. Various jobs available. As you go out towards the suburbs and rural area you will find more of the unfortunate.  
East-A resource wealthy region with one of the largest oil supplies. Lots of rain, used to be rain forest but now swamps line the coast due to the need of timber from the trees. The largest ethnic group here is the Igbo. An educated region thanks to the colonial period.

    The Oyo empire was established in the 15th century and collapsed in 1837.

    Other big kingdoms/empires during this time were the Kanem-Bornu Empire, Igbo kingdom of Onitsha and the Hausa-Fulani kingdoms.

The british are who took over this country, deprived it of independence and resources but also helped this country grow. They took over nigeria using superiority and violence (weapons that nigerian weapons could not compare to). They also added more land to nigeria in the north. The british had control but allowed nigeria to protectorate. This means that nigerians could be in control of their own people but they must follow the rules and enforce the rules that the british set. The british helped nigeria become a better country by westernizing it and helping it gain structure, have rules and providing education. However, it did take away there feeling of independence, hurt many people, brought violence and took many resources. It gained its independence on October 1, 1960. Specifically, in 1912, Lord Lugard’s government. He allowed slavery and used the military for control, creating an large amount of violence. 

    Anglo Aro War in 1901-1902 When a war was fought in attempt to end slave trade which resulted in many casualties. 

    Also one of nigeria's biggest concerns is the oil spills that seem to keep occuring depriving them of more wealth and is killing habitats and polluting the Niger Delta area.

Another major problem between the different groups was the religions they followed. Many were Muslim and many were christian. These oil spills cause pollution and reduction in their diverse wildlife along with a loss of money for the government because they have to clean it up. For example, there ha been 550 oil spills in the last year in the Niger Delta alone.

    The loss of habitats for animals is also a result of deforestation because people want to start farms (nigeria has really good soil). 

    One of the north’s biggest problems is the dry desert like area where water is scarce. People usually travel five miles just to get water from lake chad but because of the drought it is now ten miles because the lake has shrunk.

The police and law enforcement are also involved in this corruption so the people do not trust the government. Because of this many people think they can get away with more.
