Despite many schools obeying to the guidance, recent studies suggests that this results in an increase in distruptive behaviour. Play time is vital for children’s holidtic development, supporting their social and physical skills. A report on the International Comparisons of Health and Well-being in Early Childhood states that a decrease in physical activity is contributing to child obesity. Children who misbehave in class are sanctioned to missing breaktime and therefore missing their opportunity for participating in physical activities. 
Get Active to get Healthy is a national intitiative which supports schools to engage children in physical activity and school sport. They state that only a third of boys and a quarter of girls meet the recommendation for at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day. Using alternative sanctions on children for misbehaving will allow children to increase their physical activity by fully participating in playtime and sport activities. 
In the setting, it is observed that children are often sanctioned to time out as a punishment for misbehaving.
