The quarantine measure both resulted in people being hungry due to not being able to go out for work and afford basic necessities. In monitoring the epidemic, it was required to report the patients with acute watery diarrhoea and regular testing of those with subset symptoms of the disease. DOH established the DOH DataCollect (DDC) Bed Tracker System. The DDC is an application that gather information from all 1906 private and public hospitals and clinics from all over the country (Cabaro et al., 2023). However, nowadays cholera is an easily treatable disease. Severely dehydrated patients with Cholera required to intake the rapid administration of intravenous fluids. They are also given antibiotics to slow down the duration of Diarrhoea, reduce the needed rehydration fluids, and cut down the amount and duration of the V. cholerae found in their stool (World Health Organization: WHO & World Health Organization: WHO, 2023). .

COVID-19 Pandemic: The World Health Organization (n.d) advised the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible (as long as it follows the local government guidelines), to keep physical distance of at least 1 meter away from others, even if they don’t appear to be sick. As much as possible, stay away from large crowds as people from the crowd may be asymptomatic.
ECONOMIC BURDEN

Cholera Epidemic: The economic burden in Asia in particular is prominent and has the most evidence available. The high economic burden showcases how heavily Cholera has impacted the people. In India and Bangladesh where there are a lot of cases of Cholera, the economic burden is evident. Long-term investment just to improve clean water and maintain proper sanitation (which are vital to eliminate cholera), where vaccination is encouraged to the public (Mogasale et al., 2020).

COVID-19 Pandemic: Since everyone was encouraged to stay indoors to reduce the risk of obtaining the virus, a lot of people were forced to quit their jobs and find new ones. In the Philippine setting, finding a job to provide food for the family is a difficult thing to do (“Tracking the COVID-19 Economy’s Effects on Food, Housing, and Employment Hardships,” 2022).

Analysis: Both the epidemic and the pandemic showcase how the spread of the disease and the virus can affect their lives. Unemployment is such an important subject to tackle since this is a source of why people cannot put food on their table and why they can’t provide for the needs of the family.

Cholera Epidemic: the government applied the local culture, practices, and beliefs to promote actions to prevent the spread of Cholera. In this way, it will leave an impact on society that will lessen the number of people affected with Cholera (World Health Organization: WHO & World Health Organization: WHO, 2023).

COVID-19: The community and social responses are vital due to the global presence and the transmission of the virus. Both of these responses are important to reach marginalized populations and aid equity-informed responses. Taking into consideration the past community engagement experience with the present COVID-19 community-based recommendations shows how the communities play a big role in the prevention and control of the pandemic. Countries all around the world have come up with a way to get communities engaged in the pandemic to reduce the fatality rate and effects of the virus (Gilmore et al., 2020).

Analysis: Finding a way to encourage the community to participate in the engagement of the government and healthcare workers, may help lower the number of people affected by the said virus and/or disease. Applying beliefs from local and rural areas can encourage the public to cooperate with the guidelines.
