This tournament is well-known because it set an all-time record for goal-scoring and the game format was an unique format. The sixteen qualifying teams were divided into four groups of four teams each. Each group contained two seeded teams and two unseeded teams. Only four matches were scheduled for each group, each pitting a seeded team against an unseeded team. Two points were awarded for a win and one for a draw. The two teams with the most points from each group progressed to the final stage. If the first and second placed teams were level on points, lots were drawn to decide which team would top the group. However, if the second and third placed teams were level on points, there was a play-off to decide which team would progress to the next stage.

Also for this World Cup, Switzerland was the only country to place a bid to host the 2nd World Cup in the 50s. Switzerland was a great option due to being neutral during World War II and the fact that the FIFA organisation, located in Switzerland, was celebrating its 50th anniversary.

45 countries entered the qualification rounds but only 16 places were available for the 1954 World Cup.

11 places for Europe excluding Switzerland were allocated to the following countries: Yugoslavia, Austria, France, Turkey, Hungary, Scotland, England, Czechoslovakia, Italy, Belgium and West Germany. Both Scotland and Turkey qualified for the first time. Austria qualified for the first time since 1934.

The German defender committed infraction and the referee sanctioned penal ... Johann Neeskens kicked and converted the goal. -Team Zaire tried to steal a complimentary BMW team bus by driving it home from Germany.The team didn’t get very far. The bus was reclaimed by the police before the team left West German territory.

This four teams played a league and in the final game Brazil was facing Uruguay, Brazil had won the two matches and Uruguay won facing Sweden and draw the other 2-2 with Spain. At the minute 50 Friaca scored putting the game 1-0 for Brazil but then Uruguay scored two goals to put the match 2-1 that finished like that.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup took place in South Africa from 11 June to 11 July. It was played in the stadiums FNB StadiumEllis, Park Stadium Cape, Town Stadium Moses Mabhida Stadium, Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Peter Mokaba Stadium Mbombela Stadium, Free State Stadium and Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

 A negative aspect of the event was the low attendance of the public for some matches, such as that offered by the teams from Paraguay and South Africa, where 25 186 spectators were registered in a stadium with capacity for almost 60,000 attendees. 

Another black and decisive point in the development was the bad performance of the referees, accused of favoring the South Korean team in the clashes against Portugal, in the last game of the group stage, and against Italy and Spain in the second round and quarterfinals. Finally, in 2015, it was shown that these matches were rigged by the Korean team, two days after a massive arrest of some FIFA leaders, who are currently in prison.

The organizing committee sent invitations to the federations of Europe, America, Africa and Asia to fill the 16 places available. Upon arrival on February 28, 1933, the registration deadline, a total of 32 countries had signed up, but there were only 16 places. The 16 countries that intervened were: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Czechoslovakia, Egypt, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and The United States of america.

The winner was Italy, that beat Czechoslovakia 2-1 so Czechoslovakia was the runner up, Germany and Austria played for the third place, Germany beat Austria 3-2.
