Like when Joseph's father came back paranoid and scared, that is a real effect of going to the concentration camps. They are truly scary and can often feel as the world is working against them, more like Germany and Hitlers youth and Hitler's officers. I also had to read a book about Anne Frank and her experience trying to stay out of sight. Which the people in Josephs section are trying, especially his father. In the story refugee, the main character is Josef who is a boy in World War 2. He is in hiding with his family. His father got taken away. They attempted to take Josef earlier in the story but he did not get taken because he was only a kid. I can compare this to a Father during world war 1 being drafted into the army. He does not have a choice to say no.
