The 2nd amendment to the United States Constitution protects the right of militia to use weapons as an effective tool for defense and protection. The same applies to the normal citizen for their possession of weapons as well since 2008, when the Supreme Court decided that it is a right for American to armed themselves for personal use. There has been debates about whether limiting gun use, imply background check, restriction for gun sale, and even ban guns will influence the potential crime rate in the future. One thing for sure, the amendment is a highly controversial topic that has been relevant to the media these past years.

The El Paso mass shooting happened in Texas took the lives of 22 people, according to Anne D'Innocenzio and Associated Press. In the article, Walmart decides to remove short-barrel and handgun ammunition from their shelves, discontinue to sell handgun in Alaska, and start to request customer to not openly carry firearm unless they have an position in law enforcement, but they will continue to sell hunting rifle and related ammunition. Many people and activists, before this event, have been protesting the usage of gun and demanding for changes immediately and effectively. The use of gun have exponentially increase with the mass shooting crime, with people that have the ability to start open fire at any time given. Even though it is a right for American to own a weapon and use it for personal needs, this right is entitle for some responsibility for the death of 22 innocents people; others deaths that involve with mass shootings across country are included as well. 

The Constitution of United States is certainly the document that protects American civil rights and serves as the core of America. But the 2nd amendment of the Constitution, in many people beliefs, purposes a threat toward the heart of our believes in United States government, endanger innocents lives everywhere across the country. It is considered a highly controversial problem that still requires processes of restrictions, implications, and decisions from the government to resolve the current issue for future benefits. At the moment, it is still uphold as our alienable right to bear arms.
