Source:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTYB3-pQk8o

Key Features of the Japanese English Phonology.

- The vowels of Japanese English or Japanglish are arranged differently (A, I, U, E, O) compared to English vowels which are A, E , I, O, U.
- Each Japanese vowels only possessed a single sound e.g. A as in Father.
- One of the key features of Japanglish is the tendency of its speakers to add a vowel at the end of almost every word. e.g. Cut - Katto, Wife - Waifu
- L and R share the same sound which was explained in the video down below at minute 4:08.
- Japanese people cannot have the 'Si' sound. Some can pronounce this word but some can't (They will say 'Shi' instead). This can cause confusion sometimes as the word She and Sea = Shee. And when they want to say Sit, they end up saying Shit.
- It is also important to note that Japanglish does not have the 'er' sound as in 'world'. Instead, they will replace the 'er' sound with an 'ah' sound e.g. World - Waarudo.

This article is about the history of Japanese English. Based on etymology, Japnglish is a directed combination of Japanese language and English language. It started in Meiji period in 19th century where there was an explosion of culture happened there, brought the Japanese out from the isolation. The thing became more during 1945 (World War II), when the American came, attacking the Japanese nuclear weapon in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. During that time, they were exposed to the outside culture, Nowadays, it's widely use in younger generations and in Japan's media. The main function of Japanglish is to help people who lack in proficiency in both Japanese and English in order to create an intelligibility between two or more people in conversation. There are two types of Japanglish which are 'Wasei Eigo' and 'Garaigo'. Wasei Eigo is an English word that originally from Japan and Garaigo is a loan word from the outside of Japan.

Syntax of japanese english

Syntax : the arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences.

Negation : it is assumed that negation is a univeral element in all languages. What is specific to a given language is its surface manifestations. For example, in English it is possible to start a sentence with a negative (NEG)

(E1) NO one is righteous

But it is impossible in japanese to place NEG at the very beginning of a sentence, Except for the two interjections lie (equivalent roughly corresponds to English “I DON’T WANT” ) . the counterpart of (E1) above is

(J1) Gijin wa I- nai
Righteous man is not

Grammar model : a sentence consists of two components: Modality (M) and Proposition (P), and negation together with tense, aspect, mood and modal auxiliary verbs belongs to M Component. Whether it is termed as Mor AUX, it is to be noted that this component is generally incorporated into the Verboid (V) of the sentence when it comes up onto the surface. This means that in the surface structure, NEG as an element of Mis found generally in the group of words that make up the V. It is the case that sentential NEG is generally attracted to the V of the sentence in both English and Japanese.

*S O V*
subject + object + verb

" I juice drink "
( watashi wa juice o nomu )

*PARTICLES*
- They're postpositions instead of prepositions
- they used for subject, an indirect subject, a direct object, a location etc

は (wa) - TOPIC MARKER
( can also be the subject )

が (ga) - SUBJECT MARKER

お (o) - DIRECT OBJECT MARKER

に (ni) or ヘ (e) - DESTINATION / LOCATION
MARKER
