During this Fall semester at Temple University I was enrolled in a world music and culture class. We talked about how different countries music has an influence their culture and for some cultures their every day life. Not only was this class interesting and I learned a lot about other countries and their music, this class has brought an influence over my own musical writings. The first time that I realized this class was having an influence on my muisc was when we covered the Middle Eastern and Indian section. I did not find any challenges while doing this final project because the song came to me randomly one day.

One day after class I went home and started playing bass and realized I was droning notes on the bass. I knew what droning was before but seeing it used in a different cultures music gave me some ideas of my own for my music. It made me think of ways I can use these musical ideas while using a guitar and a bass. George Harrison went to India to practice the sitar to infuse classical Indian music on the Beatles Sargent Pepper album. I thought of that when I was composing this melody with my bass. I wanted the song to be relaxing and make the listener feel like there are no worries in the world. To bring them to the sense of nirvana, almost to a state of meditation. So with the link below you can check out how this class influenced my music.
