Two examples of types of poems are haikus (poems with five syllables in each line) and acrostic poems (a word of some sort down, and descriptive words/adjectives across stemming from each letter). Poetry, as I said before, is most often used for the writer to express their thoughts and/or emotions. Poetry can be very confusing though, because poets tend to use different kinds of language to express what they're trying to get across.
