A man and a woman robbed a drugstore in Woodstock. The man was armed, and the woman kept a lookout at the front of the business. There are three similarities between this story and the one in the novel: one in the novel because a robbery happened in a drugstore, someone was armed and someone else kept a lookout.
Proof: https://globalnews.ca/news/4122622/man-woman-charged-in-woodstock-pharmacy-robbery/

Steve's parents came to visit their son in jail. His father thinks he is guilty, but his mother thinks he isn't. Steve feels like a monster and starts thinking he's a bad person. There are two witnesses that came to testify what they know and what they saw the day of the robbery: Lorelle Henry, who just happened to be there, and "Bobo" Evans, who took part in the robbery. They testify against King and Steve, and things go bad for both of them. Steve knew about the robbery's plans. He was the lookout in the robbery and was friend with King, who fired the gun.
