Giving us some "homework" to start thinking about our experience of good/bad workshops and why they were good/bad.

Timelines
Less text on slides; these slides were apparently for our resource pack. Would be good to have workshop/presentation with less text and more symbols/graphics.
More time spent on afternoon agenda; it was at quite high level.
Regular breaks with gathering for tea/coffee in the canteen. Helps bonding and get side conversations started.
Less UK and more Irish examples.
Less talk from facilitators; more interactive and on our feet!

Venue

Have it off-site; great temptation to go to desk and work in between sessions. This can lose connectivity and focus.
Bigger room to allow for break-out groups. Use space outside room for break-out rooms once other colleagues can be accommodated in other rooms.
Catering at break and lunch times.
Utilise the room better; e.g. use walls, other boards to change the dynamic in room.

A lot to take in so perhaps slash some slides and focus on one or two methods that can be role played in session ahead of presentations next week.

Perhaps the two days could be condensed to one - i.e. morning dedicated to different approaches for workshops and tools and afternoon practical focus

Can have days spread out at least 2 weeks apart or more, felt like did not have time to prepare and I wasn't aware of the materials got in advance. I am not sure how often we are suppose to do these workshops.

Less time during the day for the workshop, felt like it was a lot to take in and was not aware of the amount of work involved between week 1 and week 2.

Practical Elements

Being able to put what we learned on the first day into practice on the second day. Really helps show the importance of preparation etc.

5 working days was a short time between the two sessions which wasn't easy given we had a very busy week in-between. Next time it would be great to have longer to prepare and maybe some allotted time to work with your team.

I find taking lots of breaks helps with absorbing material and staying alert. I also think it would make sense to have lunch provided if we're only given a half hour or so. I also think SSGH is too warm for day long training during the summer.

It can be hard to apply principles from training to the work of our unit as it is less concrete (we're often not providing a direct service to anyone).

Setting the workshop content to be about what we are working on currently led to rather confusing outputs. We were trying to crowbar in elements of work that didn't necessarily fit the workshop format. Maybe it would be better if they set a topic for the workshop
