We see it everyday weither it’s big or small, from the small warning on chemicals to the reflective vests construction worker wear. Yellow is the color that our sees first out of every color because it stands out so much. In the movie Contagion directed by Steven Soderbergh yellow is one of the primary colors used. It’s established at the very start of the film that whenever the disease is present the scene is covered in a yellow hue. In the scene pictured above is when they get the very first sample of the disease and you can see it’s very yellow. When you dive deeper into the emotion of sadness you find isolation. A state where all you feel is loneliness and a sense of being completely empty of all emotions. In the film The Truman Show at the end of the movie hen Truman finally find out the truth of the situation he’s been living in he enters a big blue void where he’s completely by himself. Throughout the entire movie leading up until that point Truman was engulfed in bright colors and constantly surrounded by people around him. Throughout film for year green was always seen as bad, to represent something or someone thats evil, from the wicked with of the west to maleficent’s flames. Green is also associated with wealth and greed, we see it everyday in the form of money. When you combine wealth, greed, envy and evil you get some form of corruption. In Mike Newell’s Harry Potter and the goblet of fire we see green most prominently in the scene where Voldemort rises again. The entire scene is covered in a green hue from start to finish, the only time where we see Amy ounce of warmth is the red sparks that come from Harry’s when when he duels Voldemort. The rising of Voldemort bring to light just how corrupt the wizard in world is, some of the most powerful people being death eaters. Even on everyday tv shows when a flashback is being presented you usually see a warmer color like orange being presented. Orange is you full and bright and brings a sense of comfort. In Wes Andersons Fantastic Mr Fox the entire film in an orange hue. The entire premise of the film is about Mr Fox chasing his youth and desperately trying to cling onto it. In Mark Walters Mean girl the color pink is not shoved in your face but is put on what is to be thought of the most feminine characters. Purple is the rarest colors to appear organically and because of that when the eye sees it the color often leaves us guessing and intrigued.  In James Gunn’s Guardians of the galaxy  purple appears throughout the film while the team is traveling through space quite often but never in a large quantity until the very end. At the very end of the movie the team joins together getting prepared to sacrifice themselves when being engulfed in purple flames. Having such an intense emotion can bring out even stronger reactions. In Rob Marshall’s film Chicago red can be seen thought out that entire film and even makes of the color scheme of the movie poster. One of the scenes where it’s most prominent is the scene where the 7 murderous ladies preform the call block tango. We use things from our past to connect to new ideas  or images are put before us. With cool colors were taught to associate them with negative emotions like sadness and guilt. Blue is often associated with sadness and green often with envy or disgust. In films like inside out we can see that reflected in the emotions that play inside the main characters head. The characters sadness being fully green and disgust green. Seeing cool colors in film can make the scene feel unnerving or empty.

Yes their was a time where film was all black and white and some iconic were made during that time but color is film was groundbreaking. With color your able to give off emotion and project themes without having to outright saying it. Yellow for example is thought to be a bright welcoming joyful color. Using a warmer color palette tricks the viewer into seeing a more positive theme since they bring a sense of comfort and are more calming to eye compared to cool tones. Warmth is something we always desire from weather to personal feeling.  Yellow brings happiness, orange is youthful and pink will always be seen as something sweet. In the movie inside out the emotion Joy is represented in the color yellow and can be seen literally glowing.
