Beginning - “'It's against the law alright,' said my father, 'and it's certainly bad, but when a man spends half his relief checks on green whiskey his children have a way of crying from hunger pains.'"
This scene is where scout first realizes that not everyone makes good decisions or is good at heart.

Middle - “Cry about the simple hell people give other people—without even thinking. Cry about the hell white people give colored folks, without even stopping to think that they're people, too.”
Here, Dolphus Raymond is explaining to Scout, Jem and Dill how people will always give each other hell, no matter what. It's just a way of life.

Closure - "'It ain't right, Atticus,' said Jem. 'No son, it's not right.' We walked home."
This is where Scout and Jem both finally understand that even when there is a good reason to feel a certain way, people still choose to be evil just for the sake of being evil; that is just how they are.

This theme is still relevant today for many reasons.

- The first example of this the "protests" (riots) from the extremist BLM supporters. They know what they are doing, and they try to play the victim card when called out about it. It is probably the most prominent example of this moral today, and everyone should understand that what they are doing is wrong.

- Another example of this is the Chinese Government keeping people of an "inferior" (to them) religion in what are analogous to concentration camps and tortured until they convert from their religion. It is disgusting and should be stopped immediately.

- The final example of this is Isis. They have faded from the news in more recent times, but their motives are still relevant to this topic. They are known for using violent means to achieve their goals and killing many innocent people simply because of what their views are.

Picture of people burning bicycles at a BLM riot.
