I noticed that at the beginning of this event the United States dominated by winning 7 metals (2 gold, 3 silver,  and 2 bronze) in the first 4 Olympics that they had this event, but after those metals they were less dominant only winning 2 metals until until 2004 were Michael Phelps won a bronze.
