Stanley Kubrick is a very interesting guy and the beginning of this movie definitely reflects it. With the movie being made in 1968 it is very surprising that the predictions made were not far fetched or too far from the norm. He did a much better job than George Orwell. I also thought some of the zero gravity effects they used for the movie were cool and definitely a lot better than Destination Moon as well. The beginning of the movie is slow but I still liked it and appreciate the cinematography.

This is finally where the movie became slightly intriguing. I am fascinated that they came up with the idea of Hal in the 1960's when this kind of technology was nonexistent. I think of Hal and Siri being on a similar level of each other but even today in 2017 Siri is not even close to the functionality of Hal in the movie. This also reminds me of the movie iRobot because both consist of humans creating technology to make their lives easier and it ends up coming back to hurt them in the end because the technology is "too good". I think technology becoming "too good" is a legitimate concern but I have no suggestions as to how to curb it, I think it's too early as of right now. Time will tell.

Paul,
Well written as always, I like the way you communicate. I also found the way you connected the film to the course interesting. Good touch using iRobot as well considering we did not use that in class. . .
