I use mine daily for small group instruction time - we usually do RAZ-Kids, but I would like to give the Epic site try for my students to listen to good literature. For math, the computers are one of the rotations for workstations. The children use abcya to work on math skills that we are currently working on. At the end of the day, the children can use the computer to visit favorite sites that we use throughout the day or PBSKids as well. This time is still structured, but not as "controlling" as to what they must do like it is throughout the day. Every child has an opportunity to use the computers at least 2 different times during the day and some weeks, they have additional time.

I showed the Technology Operations Challenge to my kindergarteners yesterday to teach them about the parts of the computer. It made today SO much easier when we actually got the computer cart for the first time! Our third grade buddies came down to help us log on, save a “favorite” Symbaloo site, play for a few minutes and then log off during our computer cart time today. It is always chaotic the first few times but it's nice to get it out of the way - each time is a little easier. Any tips on helping the kindergarteners master the uppercase letter in their password? I think that is going to be the most challenging thing since all of the letters on the keyboard when they look at them are uppercase and also their password shows up as asterisks so they can't see what they've typed…
