Bandayanon<br><br>The most fascinating aspect of chemistry is the knowledge that everything around us, the whole universe in fact, comprises a grand total of some 92 natural elements, to some degree or another.<br><br></div><div>I have always been fascinated by the elements, and the relation each element has to all the others in what is known as the Periodic Table.          <description><![CDATA[<div>OCCEÑA, Hannah Grace E.<br><br>Last week, December 5 to 9, 2016, I reported in front of our class about the classifications of matter and its subatomic particles. It was like a review about our past lessons so it was easy to understand most of it. We all have learned about the atomic theory by John Dalton and the subatomic particles which are protons, neutrons and electron. Protons and neutrons weigh about 1 amu while electrons approximately weighs nothing, therefore, the atomic weight of an atom is the sum of the number of protons and neutrons. The number of protons in an atom is equivalent to the atom's atomic number and the number of protons and electrons in an atom are equal.<br>The only topic we haven't discussed before is the classification of matter, mainly Pure Substances and Mixtures. Pure substances are classified as substances that have only one type of atom or molecule, and they are subdivided into two types, namely Elements and Compounds. Elements have only one type of atom while compounds are molecules made from diffrent atoms. Mixtures are material systems made from physically combining two or more substances, they are also subdivided into two categories; namely Homogenous mixtures and Heterogenous mixtures.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;A homogeneous mixture has the same uniform appearance and composition throughout while a heterogeneous mixture is made of different substances that remain physically separate.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Last week, the student mentors reported about matter, and about atoms. They discussed the two types, the pure substance and the mixture. Pure substance has a definite and constant composition. The mixture is composed by mixing two or more substance. Also, the student mentors also reported about the atoms. Atoms are made up of three particles, the neuron, electrons and protons. I clearly understand the topics that the student mentors discussed and reported. They reported it very enjoyable and interesting. Every time they finished the reporting, they gives us activity to help us understand more the topic they discussed. I hope teacher Cherry Sumogat will still discussed it further more.</title>
