The Positive Behavior System is adults and students are given referrals when observed doing a positive act. Students are recognized for going above and beyond school expectations.
Example: Johnny, a 5th grade student helps Mary, another student (without being asked from anyone) clean up a mess after dropping her tray in the cafeteria. A positive referral is written by a faculty or staff. The referral is announced at the end of the day and Johnny can get his referral to take home to show his parents.
