Most baptism occurs a few days after birth at this time there is an Christening (a christening is the naming of the baby) , although adults are also baptized. The common factor is the use of water, a symbol of spiritual purification and cleansing. When the child is getting baptized they will have their godparents there with them along will their parents. The godparents are the people that agree that they will be responsible for the child's religious upbringing if the parents are unable to do so.

A Christian marriage is when the man and the woman devote themselves to one another for life. This is the sacrament of Holy Matrimony, in which the couple agree to mirror the union of Christ and his church. A Christian wedding takes place in a church and is more of a familiar wedding. The bride is escorted down the aisle by her parents and entrusted to the groom. They exchange wedding vows and rings. After the kiss the walk down the aisle followed by the wedding party.

When the ill is about to die the ask for forgiveness of their sins if they are to sick to do so they can have another person do it for them this is called Anointing of the sick. After death either heaven, hell, or purgatory awaits of them. Those who have asked for forgiveness for their sins will go to heaven, those who did not ask forgiveness for their sins will go to hell, and those who are somewhere in between will go to purgatory and wait for their souls to be cleansed to be sent up to heaven. The funeral ceremony usually includes prayers and speeches. Sometimes, the body is displayed before burial or cremation.
