Declared in 2003, the Cairngorms National Park is made up of several plateaus of great natural value located north of Scotland in the middle of the Highlands.

In the park are several of the UK's highest mountains, pristine forests, calm lakes, and vigorous streams. The Cairngorms National Park is a paradise for winter sports lovers, but also for walkers and wildlife watching. Birds that are extinct in other parts of Europe live here such as: the capercaillie or the osprey, not to mention mammals such as reindeer, roe deer, arctic hares or otters and several species of amphibians, reptiles, and invertebrates.

The Cairngorms National Park covers an enormous area, more than 3800km2, 1/3 larger than Luxembourg. And it is located about 125 km north of Edinburgh and just 50 km south of Inverness, the considered capital of the Highlands.
