Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the oldest national parks in Southeast Europe and the largest national park in Croatia. The national park was founded in 1949 and is situated in the mountainous karst area of central Croatia, at the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The important north-south road connection, which passes through the national park area, connects the Croatian inland with the Adriatic coastal region. Each year, more than 1.1 million visitors are recorded.  

The Neanderthal Museum in Krapina is a museum in Krapina in Zagreb in Croatia. It deals with the prehistory and early history of mankind and once lived in this place 130,000 years ago. Around the Abri from Krapina there for several decades a Park, are situated in the large sculptures of Pleistocene animals and Neanderthals 

The Museum building is incorporated in the surrounding countryside, nestled between two hills, with only the front, coated with yellow Miocene sand, visible.
