         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>accreditation entity is</em></strong> responsible for overall quality, improvement, and delivery within the healthcare entity<br><br></div><ul><li>Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div><ul><li>It is an independent, not-for-profit organization, that seeks to continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value.</li></ul><div><br></div><ul><li>The Accreditation Process&nbsp;</li></ul><div>Accreditation is awarded upon successful completion of an on-site survey. The on-site survey is conducted by a specially trained Joint Commission surveyor or team of surveyors who assess your organization's compliance to our standards.<br><br></div><div>During the survey, surveyors select patients randomly and use their medical records as a road map to evaluate standards compliance. As surveyors trace a patient’s experience in a health care organization, they talk to the doctors, nurses, and other staff who interacted with the patient. Surveyors also observe doctors and nurses providing care, and often speak to the patients themselves. All regular Joint Commission accreditation surveys are unannounced.</div><div><br>Accreditation for most types of organizations is a three year award.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>provider credentialing </em></strong>mandates validity and competency to the provider’s practice/role.<br><br></div><ul><li>The American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB), formerly the ACNM Certification Council, Inc. (ACC) is the national certifying body for Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs*) and Certified Midwives (CMs*).&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div><ul><li>The certification function is a critical aspect of professional quality assurance in midwifery. Nurse-midwives have been certified by examination since 1971.</li></ul><div><br></div><ul><li>The purpose of AMCB certification program is to set the national standard for the profession of midwifery and to protect the public by ensuring that certified individuals have met pre‐determined criteria for safe practice. The exam is intended to assess the cognitive knowledge of a beginning midwifery practitioner (CNM or CM) to include both normal and abnormal, physical examination findings, lab values, physiology, pharmacology, and clinical decision making. The level of practice measures entry-level midwifery practice as a beginning practitioner. The audience for the AMCB certification programs are successful graduates of an accredited educational program for nurse-midwives or midwives with a graduate degree. CNM candidates must also have an active RN license.</li></ul><div><br>Note: You may pay the $500.00 Examination fee online by credit card or you may mail a check payable to AMCB at 849 International Drive, Suite 120, Linthicum, MD 21090<br><br>REMEMBER: Applicants have 24 months from date of program completion to pass the Examination. Applicants are allowed to sit for the Examination a maximum of 4 times.<br><br>Your name, certification number, certification date, and certification expiration date will be added to our online database at <a href="http://www.amcbmidwife.org/">www.amcbmidwife.org</a>. Certification is valid for 5 years and will expire on December 31 of the relevant year.
