Currently, under Article 24 of the Federal Constitution it stated that, Malaysia citizen was not allowed to have dual citizenship, by having more than one citizenship, they will automatically loss their Malaysia citizenship.

And that is exactly why we must change this out dated law-because it’s no longer protecting Malaysia but it’s holding us back.

Point 1: Dual citizenship attracts skilled

individuals

• Many talented Malaysian people leave for better opportunities abroad and give up citizenship

• Dual citizenship allowed them to gain international experience without loosing Malaysia ties.

• Returness bring back skills, knowledge, and global networks.

  
  

  Point 2 : Dual citizenship promotes innovations and creativity

• Exposures to new ideas abroad fuels innovations at home

• Example: Tan Hooi Ling (Grab) used global experience to create success in Malaysia

• Impact: Drives progress and solves local challanges creatively.

Allowing dual citizenship makes it easier for Malaysians to access bigger markets

Imagine if Malaysian entrepreneurs could easily access markets like Australia, the UK, or the US and at the same time, bring that network and investment back to Malaysia.

Point 2 : Family unity and Individual rights

Many malaysian marry foreigners (mix marriages)

Then they have to choose either the Malaysian partner gives up their citizenship to stay with their family abroad, or the foreign spouse and children struggle for years to obtain residency rights in Malaysia

Point 1: Stronger Visa-free access for travelling

a. International travel can be much easier for dual citizens. They can easily move between countries, making it simpler to find job opportunities and explore new places

b. They don't need to deal with visa applications which can save time, money, and stress

Point 2: Better access for education

a. Students can study in top universities without facing tough visa barriers. This makes it easier for Malaysians to pursue high-quality education, internships, and research opportunities abroad

b. This opens doors for Malaysians to succeed globally, and they can bring valuable knowledge when they come back to Malaysia

Participating in a debate as an assessment was a new and challenging experience. It helped us to improve not only our speaking skills but also our ability to research, think critically, and defend our arguments under pressure. We learned how important it is to listen carefully to opposing viewpoints and respond respectfully with evidence and logic. Overall, it taught us the value of preparation, teamwork, and staying calm (especially if you’re teaming up with your besties 🤣) while presenting in front of others. Lastly, we would love to thank our beloved lcc033 lecturer, Miss Amirah for her time, guidance, and support to our class as a whole ! We love you Miss Cantik 💗 See you when we see you again Miss ^_^
