Mala and Edek decided they would go together, and they did. They returned the uniforms for their friends and other prisoners to do the same. Saturday, June 24, 1944 was the day of the attempt. The night of the roll call the SS had found out two prisoners were missing. Other Jews had found out because the news spread quickly.As they reached the border, they got caught.
