A love of the subject!

After studying the subject from this year alone I’m considering taking it further after I’ve finished college. Because I’ve had such a positive experience of the subject, I really want to make sure everyone else does too, and being Sociology rep seems like a great way to do this.

I think it’s really important that a rep should be welcoming and easy to talk to so that everyone feels like their opinion counts, and this is something I’d really hope to bring to the role.

Although I’ve always enjoyed sociology, there’s no denying that there is a fair amount to learn and remember for exams and I know how daunting it can feel at the time. As I’ve been in this position, I feel like I could empathise with those who are maybe struggling a little and offer some positive advice!

Not one person I’ve spoken to who does sociology can disagree that the help and support stops when the lesson ends. From the vast number trips, to the after college revision sessions, Sociology really isn’t just about the classes and I’d love to be more involved with that.

The Team feel!

From the first lesson of sociology, everyone knew at least knew their class members first name, and this really has carried on through the whole year. It now feels more like a group than just a class, and in fact when the teacher tells you to work with someone new, its actually a bit of a challenge! This comfortable, friendly environment is another thing that I want to be a part of maintaining for next year.

Everyone knows there’s nothing worse than feeling intimidated or thinking the person you could do with some help from is a bit unfriendly, so for that reason I think the fact that I always try to have a big smile on my face would help me a lot in this role!

My ideas for next year!

One of my main ideas for next year is one to involve Padlet in sociology revision. From past experience, I've found it can be tricky having to keep all your revision cards together throughout the term, so my idea is to replace them with a padlet! As well as saving paper, this would keep all your revision in one place, and make it easier for teachers to check consolidation. Padlet is also easy to update and I have personally found it quite fun to use!

I'm not short on other ideas either but there's only so much I could fit on the page
