On one end, he can take the oath and end all the suffering he and his family are going through, but on the other end he is loyal to himself and God. However, throughout all the changes, More's beliefs, or the DNA in this case does not change throughout the entire process. Even at the end, although it is divided, the DNA remains unaltered.
