"The chromosomes become attached to the spindle fibers." More becomes entrenched in the controversy surrounding Henry's divorce from Catherine of Aragon. More is now in too deep to back out and he is caught in the middle between his morals and his duty to his King.

"The chromosomes move away from one another to opposite poles of the spindle." In this season, More separates from Henry by resigning his office and wrestles with his morals yet again. On one end, he can take the oath and end all the suffering he and his family are going through, but on the other end he is loyal to himself and God. Going against his conscience would send More straight to Hell in his mind, so More continues to move further and further away from the other side.

"The chromatids or chromosomes move to opposite ends of the cell and two nuclei are formed.", "The cytoplasmic division of a cell at the end of mitosis or meiosis, bringing about the separation into two daughter cells." More is now completely separated from the sympathy of the King and most other people, having refused to take the oath. With only days to live, in his heart, More is against the divorce because it defies his God, but he is still loyal to his King on principle. More is totally on a different page than the others, and in the edge, he separates from them.

Mitosis is a perfect example in representing Sir Thomas More's relationship with the world around him. However, throughout all the changes, More's beliefs, or the DNA in this case does not change throughout the entire process. Even at the end, although it is divided, the DNA remains unaltered. The division of cells at the end can also represent More's head being separated from his body, though his beliefs and morals still remain in those he leaves behind.
