There are many kinds of research and each tend to have their own 'culture'. Particularly within academia (I'm an academic researcher) there is sometimes a lack of recognition by researchers that their research activities will come from a place of beliefs and assumptions about the world. This is especially the case in science subjects where science itself has a particular kind of culture.

Policy and Politics, 52(2), 239–258. https://doi.org/10.1332/03055736y2024d000000032 suggests Scottish policy is more pragmatic
