Catrice:
Liked talking about their childhoods. Very proud of their family backgrounds and history.
Irma seemed somewhat bashful when she spoke about her father and her brothers due to their addiction problems.
Don was very open about his issues with moving as a child.
Both were proud of their work history's and career accomplishments.
Eric:
Initially succinct with answers. Fondly remembering her older siblings most of which have passed. Very proud of husband's career and accomplishments as well as that of her siblings. Eldest sister acted as an additional mother figure.
Vanessa R:
Remembers growing up in a happy family and moving until she settled in VA. Her siblings looked after her mother while she aged at home. She wants to follow in mother's steps to embrace aging.
Kevin:
Life was difficult growing up with a mother who couldn't read or write English and practically absent father with a gambling addiction. Took care of two younger siblings and mother. Forced to drop out of High School to work.

Catrice:
Both interviewees conveyed serious elation about their relationship with their husband and wife. Irma was expressed deep sadness when she spoke of her husband passing.
Both are proud of the children they raised and how accomplished they are.
Don sees those accomplishments as reflections of a "job well done" as a parent.
It was ironic how both interviewers loved Ireland, one that was his favorite place, one that wants to go. Heritage is important to them.
Single family - one story dwelling was an absolute necessity.
Eric:
Values family above all else. Enjoyed travel, social life, recreation in retirement with husband for 20 years prior to his stroke. Lives in an aging golf community that is beginning to see a resurgence of young families.
Vanessa R:
Values having her family close by. She is married for 50 years and has 3 kids. Enjoyed family beach trips and her epic trip was to Disney World with her whole family together. Her community does not cater to retirees.
Kevin:
Enjoys spending time with family and friends. Lives in 55 and older community with her husband and has been married for 37 years. Has one son who lives over an hour away. Has a younger brother and sister. Decided to go back to work as of last September.

Catrice:
Fair social activity between both interviewees.
Both drive - expressed as a form of independence. Independence was a term used quite often in both interviewees and it's importance to them.
Hobbies different very much. Irma liked more quiet activities and Don was more into sports, gardening and music. Perhaps the gender differences and age play a factor.
Both seemed comfortable with technology. Don is a little younger and has had more interaction. Neither of them seemed apprehensive of basic technology and social media platforms.
Eric:
Struggling to maintain active social life but still very social. Much of her time is required as a caregiver for her husband. Neighbors family and friends visit frequently.
Vanessa R:
Paula is not very social. Just a few times a year dinner with old co-workers. Enjoys organizing, reading and watching Netflix. Knows the basic on technology and feels left out in not keeping up with the family happenings.
Kevin:
Very involved with her community. Enjoys going and spending time with friends and family. Assists neighbors with home care when neighbors are on vacations. Day is full of appointments and other medical obligations for husband and herself along with her husband's mother. Uses technology frequently to interact.

Catrice:
Both interviewees are in very good health, especially in the differing stages of life. Both are on high blood pressure meds and high cholesterol meds. Arthritis seems to be an underlying characteristic as well. Neither expressed any mobility issues.
Irma expressed deep concern for burdening her children with her aging and well being.
Don seemed to have it all figured and accepting of what could happen in the future (nursing home, retirement home).
One main concept is that they both expressed the desire to age in place as long as possible.
Eric:
Both in good health with the exception of Husband's Verbal and mobility handicaps (apraxia & partial paralysis in right side). Fearful of husband falling or needing to go back to the hospital as it is draining and taking him longer to recover from. Also fearful of getting ill or injured and not being able to care for husband forcing them out of their home. Husband has in-home care for most appointments.
Vanessa R:
Appreciates her grandmother's saying "if you have your health, you have everything." She tries to take care of herself but has diabetes and back pain which is starting to be hard keeping her balance. She has flexibility but no endurance. Her husband has endurance but no flexibility.
Kevin:
Currently in good health. Very independent when it comes to daily tasks and issues. Only generally concerned about her health in the future. Not happy with the idea of relocating but willing to do so if necessary.

Catrice:
Both seem to have finances under control. Irma was a little more hesitant on whether her investments would be substantial enough for the future. Don seemed more versed with a financial planner.
Both have wills and living wills.
Both have made sure they discussed these preparations with direct family members.
Eric:
Finances are stable and sufficient to sustain needs. Healthcare costs although high have been covered fully by insurance and supplemental policies held since retirement. Husband was a CPA and managed finances until his stroke. Eloise has since learned to manage household bills and finances with the help of their financial planner.
Vanessa R:
Paula feels she had a late start to retirement savings and did not have the highest paying job. Has a 20 year retirement plan but uncertain if this will be enough.
Kevin:
States finances are stable. Both her and her husband works part-time. Receives and relies on social security as one of primary income. Manages her own finances without discussing future plans.
