Next week, we want to use our radio broadcasts to spread Messages of Hope to people in Ukraine. 

If you want to send a message of hope to Ukraine, please answer the questions below in a voice message, text message, or whatever medium you prefer which you can post and upload in this padlet.

Your message will then be broadcasted on our radio. The audio message must be in English and preferably between 2-4 minutes long.

Please keep in mind: This whole project is about sending hope for those affected and not about one’s own political beliefs/agenda.

I’m feeling quite overwhelmed by the current state of the world, to be honest. I mean, just after the hardships of the coronavirus pandemic, we slide into yet another tragic event that very much concerns many people all over the globe. This war was as unexpected for most of the world as it is unnecessary. And I truly cannot believe how we as a species still can’t maintain peace amongst ourselves. How we seemingly need to wage war, over unimportant pettiness, or sometimes even just for the sake of war itself. Thinking about this, I do sometimes lose hope for humankind, as I’m sure some of you do too.

But then again, as I look around, I see so many good people, helping in every way they can. Battling, without need for violence, but battling nonetheless. People who take fugitives into their homes to protect them, people who donate the money they can spare to total strangers, people like you, dear hosts at the Pestalozzi Children’s Village, who send out messages to spread hope.

Those people, who stand beside their fellow humans in Ukraine, not for any personal gain, but just out of love and their love for peace; those are the ones that make me want to rise.

Those people, who do not sit around and reflect, but act; those are the ones who inspire me to act myself.

Those people, who may be frightened but never hesitant; those are the ones who give me hope.

So, here’s my message:

We see you, Ukraine. You are not alone. Keep up hope in these daring times, for surely the sun will rise again.
