1) Divorce has become more prevalent in America because people have a hard time communicating with others around them about their own wants and feelings. Also there are a lot of dishonest people who get into relationships with poor intentions.
2) Some healthy qualities in a relationship are open communication, support, honesty, mutual effort and an overall love of one another. I feel that Jack would struggle with the honesty part because in the story he has 2 different names that he goes by depending on where he is. So he has 2 different personalities and lives.
3) I want to get married when I'm older because I have always dreamed of creating a family of my own and I never grew up with a healthy image of relationships as a kid. I would like to provide a healthy image of marriage to my child and show them that it is possible to have a healthy relationship with someone and give them an example of how they should treat those they care about.

Divorce is much more prominent today than it was in the past for many reasons. For instance, it's very socially acceptable to be divorced in our society, and around 50% of marriages end this way. However, in previous centuries and even decades, divorce was strongly discouraged and seen as morally wrong by the public. It is more common today because many people are so busy that they have less time to connect, leading to broken relationships. Likewise, not everyone is willing to put in the time to get to know a person before they actually marry. In the past, it was easier to spend time with spouses and family to connect with each other, but now it seems like so many are too busy for relationships. Relationships are a huge commitment in every aspect, and not everyone is able to handle this. On the other end of the spectrum, some people believe that they have found their soulmate and wish to jump right into marriage. Each person may have flaws that their prospective partner does not have the time to discover, and they may not really be the perfect spouse. Similarly, meeting others on dating apps and online is not the best way to connect with a future partner. On the other hand, there are many things that can be done to have a strong marriage today. For instance, a healthy relationship should involve plenty of communication, and the couple should discuss even small matters to prevent them from becoming big problems. Likewise, a healthy marriage must involve effort and compromise on both sides. Both people must want to be in the relationship and be supportive of the other person, and there must be giving and taking on both ends. Healthy marriages should also include a good balance of fun and work. The couple must make time for each other, no matter how busy their professional lives are. At the same time, partners also must be able to have time for themselves and explore passions that do not necessarily involve each other, since balance and having one's own identity are important. I hope to have a relationship that has many of these qualities someday. Having someone to navigate life with is a wonderful thing, but I don't plan to rush into marriage because I want to make sure that I've found someone that I can be with for the rest of my life.

Communication is Key

One of the most prevalent complications within marriages today is a lack of communication. Not prioritizing communication in a relationship leaves room for confusion and distrust. Distrust is often where the marriage can begin to crumble. When one feels left out in their own relationship, they can begin to compensate for the information they are not receiving from their partner, creating their own reasons for the distance between them. This spiraling and assuming only amplifies the issues in a relationship.
A healthy relationship would include frequent communication aimed to ease the anxieties of one's partners and build on the trust and loyalty between them. When communicating, listening is just as important as talking. Your partner won't feel safe to open up if you show no care or concern for what they think, feel, and experience. The best communication in a relationship comes from a place of true care and concern for each other and the relationship at hand.
I would love to get married one day because I think committing to caring for, loving, and supporting another person is a beautiful thing. I also dream of starting my own family when I am older.

With each passing decade, divorce becomes more and more common. Nowadays, 50% of marriages end in divorce, with a majority of such occurring in couples over 50 years old. A vast majority of marriages end due to an incompatibility within couples. As human beings, we are subject to experience personality growth and changes, which can negatively affect marriages. Children and work-life balances also contribute to such incompatibilities. A large portion of marriages also end as a result of cheating or financial issues; both of which bring couples towards an inescapable state of hostility. Other factors such as abuse, addiction, etc contribute to the increasing rate of divorce in America. With so many differing factors leading to divorce, it can seem difficult to avoid. In a healthy marriage one may face similar issues though the actions surrounding such differ. Couples who prioritize communication are often able to persevere through their issues. Healthy couples move as a team through life. Whether it be in parenting, supporting one another or finances, healthy couples work alongside each other for the benefit of each other. I myself hope to get married one day. I behold the traditional ideal to have a happy marriage and a family. I have experienced friendships in which it seems like you were made for another, but to experience such in a romantic sense would be wonderful.

I think many marriages struggle and fail because individuals change over time. In a lot of cases relationships hit turmoil when one person stops putting in effort to improve themselves individually, or to maintain the person they were before the relationship. I believe when two people get married, some make that commitment and over time, stop doing the things that originally made the other feel so strongly about them. In that case one might feel trapped or stuck with a person seemingly different from the one they married. In a strong marriage, both people should strive to maintain their individual characteristics and passions, as well as encourage each others in order to create a healthy attachment. prioritize communication especially for hard to talk about topics that need to be addressed, and just be nice to each other.

Divorce is much more common in today's world than in the past due to the fact that it is more openly accepted than in the past. Divorce used to be something that was diminishing to one's personal values and morals. Healthy relationships usually include aspects like good communication and trust. Without good communications, there becomes many dishonest aspects of a relationship which can cause the relationship to fall apart rather quickly. Two people that trust each other and are open to their feelings and emotions allow for strength to grow between two people. Additionally, respect towards one another is another aspect that can lead to more strength in a relationship with correlates with trust. Without respect towards one another, it can cause imbalance of power in the relationship. I do plan to get married in my future because I want to find someone that I know I can trust and will support me through the rest of my life to be able to start my own family when I am older.

People love to protect their feelings. So, in a marriage if something is wrong it is very easy for someone to stay silent in order to avoid conflict or confrontation. I believe that this is something that is causing divorce rates to skyrocket. Being open to conversation and being vulnerable is extremely difficult, especially when the reaction that will come from your spouse is unknown. Many people tend to build up walls to prevent any sort of emotion from coming out. Over time, all of the feelings that have been bottled up during the course of marriage will start to spill. This will cause arguments, the feeling of isolation, and eventually divorce. I believe that the healthiest relationships root from the feeling that you can be open and have conversations about things that may stir up feelings. This way, emotions can be let out instead of bottled up. Spouses should be able to feel safe to speak from the heart. Personally, in my future I do not see marriage as a necessity, but it is definitely something I would prefer. If I find someone that makes me feel secure and happy, I will marry. If that doesn't happen, that is fine too, it just depends on where life takes me.

Overtime, marriages have become less common while divorce rates have simultaneously increased. This can be alarming to some, however I believe it's important not to stress. If a couple feels there is a need for a divorce. then I believe it should be normalized and accepted. To live in an unhappy marriage rather than separating is something I cannot imagine. Many marriages fail nowadays for a variety of reasons, the most prominent simply being because divorce has become more widely accepted worldwide. People feel more comfortable divorcing now than they did centuries ago. A couple more specific reasons for marriage failure could be lack of communication, differing opinions on serious topics, and the ability to balance work and personal life. Conversely, I believe that some qualities of a healthy marriage are good communication, making time for one another, and feeling comfortable with your significant other. These qualities all make marriage seem much more enjoyable and happy. Personally, I'd hope to marry someday if I know the person is right for me. I'd like to live with someone that I can be myself around and always be comfortable with. I also believe that I also feel that my spouse and I should be vulnerable with one another because that will allow for us to make sure everything is going well, and that there are no unresolved problems that could be fixed by simply opening up to one another. In my personal opinion, you will know when you've found the one when you continuously feel as though you are falling in love with the same person over and over again. This feeling of security and safety with someone is a great way to sense if you've found the one for you. As you learn new things about one another and spend time together, you should feel a constant spark between the two of you! Overall I believe that marriage and divorce rates have definitely switched positions over the last century or so. With a work force exceedingly growing, people are less focused on family and marriage, and more focused on a successful life.

In my not-so-expert expert opinion, I believe that there is a very good reason marriages fail. Marriage has become less of a love thing and more of a business thing. People often feel they NEED to get married that marriages have been rushed more often than not recently. People find themselves married to people they find out they don't actually like, and end up divorcing, hence the high divorce rates in recent years. A healthy relationship can have many different aspects. For example a healthy relationship often is between people who have known each other for a while, or have great communication. They talk a lot, are there for each other, and know each other inside and out. Honestly, while getting married could be nice, it isn't very necessary as long as I find a good boyfriend that will be there for me and who loves me very much. Being me, I don't feel as though I need to have that label of being "married" to be happy. I guess in that way I am kind of like Algernon. I don't really see the reason to tie yourself up like that. I definitely would enjoy a marriage, but it isn't something I find necessary.

It seems that many marriages fail because people get married for the wrong reasons. In current society, it seems that many people today get married for reasons of love, or the misunderstanding of the feeling of love. Some marriages, typically those that seem to work out, begin for reasons truly of love and genuinely wanting a future together. Marriage between people that doesn't work out seems to be because two people think they are in love with each other, but these decisions happen because they are acting on what they want to happen

A healthy relationship seems to be filled with equitable opportunities and communication. Healthy relationships seem to also have a clear objective as to what they are pursuing together, growth.

I hope to marry someone someday because I know it can be a beautiful thing to start a relationship and family with someone. I want to be able to grow with someone and watch them grow at the same time. Lastly, I do not want to be alone for a multitude of reasons. It is comforting knowing that even if I think I have nothing, I would still have a wife.

Marriage is a very large commitment for many couples. Oftentimes, they are so infatuated with each other that they just jump into marriage without thinking about any of the factors involved with actually being married. A majority of the time, many marriages fail because of a lack of communication. A recurring theme in Jhumpa Lahiri’s Interpreter of Maladies book was that most of the conflicts stemmed from a lack of communication. In A Temporary Matter, the entire conflict of the short story could have been solved, simply if Shoba had spoken to Shakumar about how she was feeling prior to finding a new apartment. So, conversely, a major quality of a healthy relationship is maintaining an open line of communication. Letting a significant other know how you feel means there is trust established and the foundation of the relationship is sturdy.

Personally, I do hope to marry someday, but I definitely have other priorities in life that are more important to me than marriage. To me, having a successful career comes first. I want to establish myself as my own person in the world before I become known as “____’s wife”. I also want to make sure I find the right person to marry. I’ve always been a planner and I’m not the type of person to just jump into a huge commitment like marriage. Especially with divorce rates being so high, I want to know I've found the right person to spend my life with.

The failure of many marriages nowadays can be traced back to the lack of foundations that marriages must be built on, and the absence of them is why so many often end as abruptly as they begin. Divorce has become significantly more prevalent over the years and today especially because there is less stigma surrounding it. A long time ago, divorce was not something even thought of because the idea of it was so radical and controversial. However, now that divorce is more accepted and not looked down upon as much, it's become more common and something that's unfortunately seen a lot. It seems that nowadays, the true commitment of marriage is often undermined, and people jump into married life without forethought or understanding the obligations that being in a healthy relationship entails. Communication (which seems to be a rather foreign idea for many of the characters we've read about so far this year) plays a huge part in maintaining a stable and healthy relationship. Support and respect are also among the many factors that contribute to healthy relationships, and relationships that lack these are typically not able to flourish. I personally hope to marry one day. It's one of my biggest dreams to have a happy and healthy family, but it's not something I feel the need to rush. There are many things I want to do before I decide to make such a big commitment. I owe my future partner the best version of myself I can possibly be, and I would like to take my time learning to love and support myself even more so I will be able to do the same for someone else one day.

In recent years, divorce has become something more and more common for any families in the United States. Though there are many reasons, according to the info graph above, the largest reason is due to commitment issues. Though cheating is nothing new, dating apps and online sites make it much easier for partners to be unfaithful in there relationships. Another reason includes people feeling as though they got married too young. This is also another large reason as to why many marriages are failing. This an also lead to more failed marriages as those who get married more than once have a higher chance of getting divorced.
Despite the high rates of divorce, there are things that make a relationship very healthy which can help to avoid divorce. In my opinion the biggest this is communication. With communication those in the relationship can feel heard, which is the most important thing. When partners communicate, they build a greater understanding of each other which is crucial when loving someone and therefore spending the rest of your life with them.
To me though, marriage isn't something i strive for. Although I would like to have a partner to spend the rest of my life with, it isn't something I deem necessary for my own success and happiness. In my opinion, whether I get married or not isn't something very important to me.

Divorce has become more prevalent over the years for a multitude of reasons. I believe that people have always faced struggles within marriage, but only more recently has divorce become more normalized or "okay". A main reason as to why so many marriages fail is due to a lack of honesty and communication. If two people are not able to comfortably express their emotions to one another, then their relationship is bound to suffer. In a relationship, if there is something not going right, then it should be discussed, because when this stress is kept bottled up, it will only increase the tension and lead to additional issues. I do believe that in order for a relationship to be successful, two people need to be comfortable with one another, when expressing the good and bad. Therefore, a couple healthy qualities within a relationship are honesty and communication. Another healthy quality is patience, whether it be patience for your partner or patience with evolving a relationship, meaning not simply jumping into marriage without necessarily thinking everything through. When a person decides to get married, it should be well thought out, and not forced, in order to avoid divorce and unhappiness. That being said, I would be open to the idea of marriage in the future, but only when this decision is well thought out. My primary focus is establishing stability in my own life and career first, but it would be ideal to have someone else to rely on and have support from when needed.

Recently, divorce has become a much more common occurrence among married couples. It is important to take a step back and analyze what may be the cause of this issue in order to help our generation not experience this same conflict. A big reason I believe many marriages fail in this day in age is because there is a vast lack of communication within relationships. A big part of our generation/recent times is technology. Because of this, many people have a problem with instant gratification. When people do not instantly get something when seeking it out they give up on it rather than trying again or attempting to make it work. This same issue can be seen in marriages. When something does not work out or a couple is not on the same page about something they often give up on the issue instead of trying to mend it. As this lack of communication builds up, marriages begin to fall apart. On the other hand, healthy relationships look very different. In healthy relationships, open and honest communication is seen throughout the entire relationship. When something occurs it is communicated between partners to keep them on the same page. Healthy relationships also involve each person involved setting time away to spend with their person. By spending time together, communication and honesty becomes a given and makes the relationship thrive. One day, I hope to marry. I think that as of now finding a person to spend my life with and know I can always confide in is a value I would like to pursue. In order to have a successful marriage I plan on practicing the parts of a relationship that keep it going.

Throughout the past twenty years or so, divorce has become much more prevalent for many reasons, one of them being greed. Our country has put so much emphasis on self-gain that people would rather continue to gain for themselves rather than stay with their significant other. So many people are obsessed with their work that they will work day and night with no second thought. If a spouse is like this, it can truly hurt the significant other as it leaves them longing for attention and love. As shown in the image, the amount of money outweighs the amount of love, which is how many people end up viewing their marriage. I think there needs to be lots of time put aside for a marriage to succeed. If one isn't putting this time aside, they aren't putting in the effort for their marriage to succeed. I think a quality of a healthy marriage is communication. If there isn't an effective way of communication between two people, there is no healthy way to express needs and areas of the relationship that can be improved upon. Another important quality of a successful and healthy marriage is affection. Understandably, someones "love language" may not be affection, but I think signs of love like physical touch and attentiveness can go such a long way in helping each spouse feel appreciated. I do hope to be married one day for many reasons. For one, I am a person who strongly values relationships and I am full of love to give. Being in love and having a home that I share with my partner and children is my biggest goal in life.

I think divorce has occurred more and more often over the recent years for many reasons. First being communication, as nowadays, people seem to put up a wall and find it hard to express their likes and feelings, etc. People have put more limit on what they say and hold back on giving their true feelings whether it be something bothering them and find it hard to express themselves. Another reason would be an understanding of boundaries and how a lot of people seem to overstep, not letting the other person be independent and jump to the conclusion that they don't like the other if they don't consistently speak and make decisions without the others' validation. An example could be if the person decides on hanging with friends for a day and the other has an issue with it, it can be signs of controlling and lead to lots of issues, thus divorce happening. I do believe people should be open and involved with each other in a marriage but still allow each other to live independently and talk it out if there is a bother or issue about something. I don't necessarily think divorce is always bad, as it would be better to end the marriage then continuously be unhappy and it also allows for growth. It has also become more accepted and less controversial as the years have gone on. For me personally, I want to be in a married relationship when I'm in a good place in my life and stable. I want to be with a person who is stable, honest, involved, supportive, trust, and has common interests, but we still live as ourselves and respect boundaries.
