Our next phase is to design how our membership will be implemented. This will involve things like designing the membership application process, creating member welcome packs and making sure the membership is accessible.

We would like to co-produce this with a group of people who bring representation from across our organisation. The co-production group will meet every couple of months to work on this together.

We are looking for a small group of people to be a part of this, including service users, volunteers and trustees.

Mad Studies has strong connections with grassroots movements fighting for the rights of people labelled as “mentally ill,” as well as intersecting social justice movements. The field is indebted to pioneering work (from the early 2000s) at Ryerson and York Universities in Canada, and to related disciplines, such as Critical Disability Studies, women’s studies, queer theory and critical mental health.
