To be so in love with their father that they wouldn't ever have to worry about being a child of divorce. Growing up I envied the children whose parents were still together because it was something I could never have. Having no memory of my parents ever being together and being raised by a single mother. By the time I was a few weeks old I was put in daycare because my mom had to work and no one else could take care of me. Most children dream of their parents getting back together, but my sister and I could never do that. We knew from a young age that any love between them was because of us. I don't want my children to have to go through any of that. The lavish things have never really held much appeal to me, so I wish to be comfortable. Being able to afford a nice house with a car and never worrying if I'm able to pay the bills. Not splurging on every one of my kid's desires but being able to buy them new shows when they get holes. My mother gave me a limit of two new shoes a year, but only when it contained so many holes it couldn't be worn.While it helps a child show value and care in their possessions, I often had to put tape on the bottom of my shoes because it wasn't time to get new ones. If I can make sure my kids never have to worry about being homeless, then I know I have succeeded. Getting what you wanted doesn't always mean it makes you happy. I want a life where I have no regrets and can come home smiling and content with myself. I want a job that makes me happy with a life that makes me joyous to wake up in the morning. I have spent so much time pushing down what I wanted just to fit it, but it never made me happy. I really hope that doesn't carry into my future. For many immigrants, the American Dream is the belief of a better life and opportunities. While that remains true, as time goes on, it's becoming a hell of a lot harder to achieve it.  Reading through the article I found that the author made very good points especially when he said," I don't believe that the american dream is something meant to become a reality for everyone. Even though it can be achievable it's nearly impossible for the lower class people. How can you expect people that are struggling with the everyday funds of life to be able to pay their way through college." Families using food stamps and living paycheck to paycheck are expected to pull money from somewhere to give their children the best opportunities.They are expected to just randomly pull themselves out of poverty when they are given the same opportunities and given a different hand in life. The author stated this perfectly when he stated,"We live in a country that revolves around money so not everyone is setup with the early success that others receive. How can everyone achieve this dream when poverty is such a big factor."While this article was short, I believe it supported my thesis that the American Dream only applies to certain groups of people
