The Road Not Taken By Robert Frost is a poem about the journey of life. The two roads diverged in a yellow wood forest symbolizing a person's life. The narrator's choice about which road to take represents the different decisions we sometimes must make and how those decisions will affect the future. My Beloved World is a memoir by Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic justice on the United States Supreme Court. This memoir, related from Sotomayor's first-person perspective, describes her childhood, family, education, and career through 1992. Sonia Sotomayor grew up in America in a poor but extended family. In both "My Beloved World" by Sonia Sotomayor, "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost there is a similar theme. The theme of choices and dreams are linked to the future. In both pieces the "path" they take the choices they make will affect their future. They have dreams about what they would like to become but they need to make choices to see their dreams through. The road taken has perhaps the better claim because one is probably better than the other perhaps it's a better opportunity. The narrator was looking for a road that not many people put their foot on and a road that is grassy and wear. In the poem lines 6 to 10, it says “then took the other, as just as fair, and having perhaps the better claim, because it was grassy and wanted wear; though as far far that the passing there had worn them really about the same “ meaning after So after all this buildup about one road, which he's looked down for a long time, our speaker takes the other path. The speaker still seems pretty uncertain when he explains that this second path is better. It is only "perhaps" better. Then the speaker tells us why the path is better it seems like it hasn't been walked on very much, because it's grassy and doesn't look worn. 'The Road not Taken' is that no matter what result may come out of the decisions that we make in life, the important thing is the confidence of decision making that it builds in us.

However, in "My Beloved World" one theme is her having diabetes ended up limiting her job choices. It the next it states "You couldn't be a police officer... uh-oh. That one stopped me like a slap in the face." This tells us that one theme of this story is she was disappointed that she couldn't do any of these jobs. This is how the two themes are, one theme is more about how decisions can impact your life. One theme of "The Road Not Taken" is making important decisions can determine your whole future. In the text it states, "I shall be telling this with a sigh, somewhere ages and ages hence" This evidence shows that he will be telling this story in the future with disappointment because he wasn't able to experience both paths. However, in "My Beloved World" one theme is even though you have limitations you can still do great things. In the text it states, "The list of possibilities for a diabetic isn't very long." This evidence shows that Sonia didn't have many choices for what she wanted to do in the future because of her condition which was stopping her.
