Our school is located on the outskirts of Trikala see our eTwinning project HERE), a beautiful 'smart' city in the heart of mainland Greece. It's a close-knit, small school that enjoys strong support from every member of our school community, including teachers, students, and parents. Our student body typically ranges from 60 to 80 students. We have seven primary teachers who cover core subjects such as Language, Maths, History, Geography, and more. Additionally, we have nearly 7 specialised teachers for subjects like PE, English, German, Music, Art, Drama, and IT. Although our school isn't fully inclusive, remedial teaching or concurrent support-inclusive education by special education teachers may be provided if necessary.

We are enthusiastic about eTwinning and Erasmus+ projects, in which we've actively participated since 2013. We're also keen on various competitions and innovative initiatives. Despite not being a large urban school, we take pride in making a positive impact on our local community.

Overall, we are excited about this project and eagerly anticipate its incredible outcomes!

The E.E.E.E.K. of Trikala (Laboratory of Special Vocational Education), which was founded in December 2001, belongs to the category of independent special education schools. The duration of studies is 6 years. Graduates of primary schools of general or special education are enrolled, covering the obligation of secondary education. It is a school unit graded in secondary education and grants its graduates a Level 2a diploma with professional rights and the right to enroll in Special Education Vocational Schools, upon recommendation of the KE.D.A.S.Y. (Diagnostic Evaluation Counseling and Support Centers of Students).

The school provides academically tailored knowledge to the special needs and abilities of its students through courses in:

· Philology

· Mathematics

· Social and Vocational Education

· Computer Science

· Music education

· Physical Education

Special emphasis is given to the development of social skills within the framework of working groups, including areas of individual care, interpersonal relationships, and full participation in community life. Students of all classes attend the main specialization laboratory for 10-15 hours (depending on the year of study) per week in order to acquire technical skills that will help them in their autonomous living and future employment.

At the Vocational Training Institute (EEEEK) of Trikala, there are laboratories with specializations in

Agriculture, Food, and Environment,

Handicrafts and

Hairdressing

The dominant criterion for the successful integration of a person with a disability into the workforce is their level of social skills. In the last grade of EEEEK, a practical exercise, lasting at least two trimesters, is established within the framework of laboratory courses, which is determined by a decision of the teaching staff. The last grade functions as a class for technical/vocational specialization with the aim of enriching the skills of the students and familiarizing them with the work environment. In cases where the practical exercise of the students is not possible, it is done with the support of the School Association.

This school year, 40 students are attending the E.E.E.EK., with main diagnoses of disorders such as autism, mental and multiple disabilities.
