I think gene alteration to make only thin people should be established by the law if it should be even allowed, due to all of the development of the child and how safe or unsafe that could be. Would they simply have a high metabolism or how could that even work? I think yes it should be endorsed by the law for both. I dont believe we should alternate our children, they are who we as people make them THE NORMAL WAY.

In my opinion, I don't think the government should have any say in the situation. I think the decision should be made by the parent. I think the only time a gene alternation should come into play is health issues. It could change how society looks all the way around, in a negative way.

I think that gene alteration to produce only thin people should not be endorsed by the law because the government/law should not be able to have this much control over the people's personal lives and i think that changing the physical build of a fetus would be detrimental for children/people that were born before this alteration was endorsed. On the other hand, while allowing for the alteration of a fetus's gender is not natural, I don't think that this would cause as many psychological or ethical concerns because it won't affect the health of the child or physical appearance.

No, this decision should only be allowed to be made by that parent, this topic is very controversial, and if the government tries to take a role in it many people will not approve. People in history have never had these options and we don't know the effects that these alterations will have on society.

No because in my opinion, we already mess with nature enough. Some things need to be left alone and don't need the human touch. Humans feel like we need the perfect world and think that we can achieve by screwing around with everything and changing it into society's definition of perfection, instead of diversity. I definitely don't think that messing with a fetus to change it's gender should not be allowed. The miracle of life is a beautiful thing and should be left natural, pure, and untouched. Again, changing the gender is just the human way of changing something to morph into what they want and think would complete themselves, instead of just letting things go.

No it should not be endorsed by the law, but the parents should be the ones to decide if they want to alter the genes. I also don't think that it should be legal to change the gender of a fetus, because that child should be able to decide that for themselves down the road one day.

Gene alteration should not be endorsed by the government due to the potential health risks posed by the process. The decision should be left completely to the parents, however the government may feel obligated to provide necessary information to make the decision making process easier. Additionally, I believe that gene alteration conflicts with religious thought and would upset many people in religious communities, claiming that religious freedom is being trampled on. The same argument stands for alternating the gender of a fetus. Religious people would strongly object to a governmental endorsement of an unmoral act, in their opinion. Additionally, operations to change the gender of a fetus are extremely costly and strenuous. Not everybody would be capable to undergo the process, whether it be for financial or health reasons, so a government endorsement would have varying implications across socioeconomic classes.

No because the fetus should not be changed to a different gender. Also gene alteration to make a newborn baby thin should not be endorsed by law. The technology to do this might not be 100% safe.

I understand why people would want to have these choices, but personally I would disagree with both. I think choosing the gender takes some of the "fun" out of having a baby. I like surprises so I definitely wouldn't want to choose the gender. For producing only thin people, I understand why it would seem like a better decision for "health reasons", but just because someone isn't overweight, does not mean that they are healthy. It also takes away that person's own desires. Maybe someone wants to be a little thicker than how they're parent wants them to be. It doesn't allow for them to choose how they want their body to look. In a way, it also takes away individuality.
