         <title>Missouri Compromise-1820</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Missouri Compromise was a law passed in 1820 to keep the number of free and slave states equal in the United States. It allowed Missouri to be a slave state, while Maine was a free state, and set a line to decide where slavery could be allowed in the future.</p><p><br></p><p>The Missouri Compromise increased the tension between the North and South over slavery. It only slowed down the conflict, and as new territories joined, the debates over slavery grew, eventually leading to the Civil War.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>]]></description>

This made it harder for people in the South to buy things they needed, leading to a lot of anger and conflict between the North and South.</p><p><br></p><p>The Protective Tariffs of 1828 created more tension between the North and South, as Southern states felt they were unfairly burdened by high taxes on goods. This grew the divide over economic interests and states rights eventually contributed to the Civil War.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>
