The film has an allegory as a frame story: the story of the 2 brothers - what does the film writer Peres Owino want to say with this?

We think that the story of the two brothers represents 2 things in the movie, aside from being the foundation of the timeline and plot. First, on a symbolic plane, the split between the two brothers works as a portrayal of the African race splitting into 2 sides. The further the brothers are separated the more they’re growing away from each other, and the disappeared brother seems more and more distant as the years and generations pass on.

When the two brother’s families finally encounter each other again, they can’t recognize each other. In someway this represents the way slavery had the ability to tear apart families forever. But in a larger picture, it shows the race splitting into African Americans and Africans, and how these two are growing further and further away from each other.

Explain the imagery literally expressed in the film in the several sequences with people in black apparel wearing masks.

The people wearing masks throughout the film is a continuation of the story of the two brothers where the people in masks are descendants of the two brothers. In today's world the people who once were from the same country no longer recognize each other.

Can you express what the film wants? Is there a clear point or a message?
