Casually checking in with students can be both motivating and beneficial. Short conferences before, after, or even during class to congratulate students, ask how they are doing, give compliments, or ask their opinion can show students that their teacher truly cares. Teachers can implement this through the use of technology by creating a class website where students can post their interests, thoughts, or opinions and receive feedback from their teacher and peers. By doing so, a great sense of community would be felt by the whole class.

Teachers can create a bulletin board with students photos and add their interests or fun facts about them. This would be great to do for a homeroom class hallway display. You could also use this strategy with technology by making a slideshow presentation with students' photos or achievements that plays on the IWB when students enter class or while the board is not being used.
