Some of the articles have games and videos to supplement the content. Scientific vocabulary is linked to definitions.<br><br>Activity Learn will be helpful in supporting literacy standards. The "High Interest Articles" section show cases articles that would peak student interest and could be  used to pique interest.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/AmoebaSisters">https://www.youtube.com/user/AmoebaSisters</a><br><br>A YouTube channel that features two cartoon amoeba sisters who explore a wide range of science topics.<br><br>I will utilize the lab safety video and turn it into an ed tech puzzle  at the start  of a new term to review lab safety.<br><br>I also find their cartoon illustrations useful to help students visualize microscopic procese such  as enzyme binding and mitosis.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="https://newsela.com/">https://newsela.com/</a><br><br>Teachers can utilize NewaELA to create custom activities and instructions, assign sets of articles, and control the reading levels students see.<br><br>I find a lot of value in the setting lexile feature. The same  articles can be set by lexile or grade making it easy to differentiate for students.<br><br>There are also end of article quizzes that can be useful for assessing comprehension.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="https://nearpod.com/">https://nearpod.com/</a><br><br>NearPod offers an extensive library of interactive online lesson plans.  The main features of NearPod are digital drawing, short answer responses, video clips, quizzes, polls, and even 3D expeditions.<br><br>NearPod is an engaging platform. Students following along on computers with their peers and teacher. The teacher sets the pace and controls the content as the class moves through the lesson together. <br><br>I will utilize NearPod intermittently throughout the academic year as a way to differentiate instructional method.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="http://webquest.org/">http://webquest.org/</a><br><br>WebQuest.org  offers a wide variety of WebQuests as well as free templates to create your  own.<br><br>I will utilize the templates to create WebQuests centered around an NGSS content objective. <br><br>WebQuests could also be a part of a learning menu for students who like to work independently and with tech.<br><br>WebQuests may also be useful when there is a sub because they are very self directed and students can do them at their own pace.<br><br>WebQuests could be a good resource for students who finish assignments  or labs  early and need a backup activity.</div>]]></description>

This will also be helpful in activating prior knowledge.<br><br>Kahoot quizzes could also be used at the end of a lesson or unit.<br><br>Students could create their own Kahoot quizzes as a way to review and test their peers. </div>]]></description>

Or 1 billion years ago? Or 4.5 billion years ago? EarthViewer is an interactive tool that allows you to explore the science of Earth's deep history."<br></em><br>Interactive earth viewer by different era  (climate, carbon ratios, extinction events, etc.).<br><br>I would use Earth View in an evolution unit  or a geoscience unit to help students conceptualize changes over time (this tends to be a challenge for students). Earth Viewer could be used in a WebQuest, or could be a useful tool for making prediction about climate change.</div>]]></description>

One part of the platform is the editor, which allows you to build the tours, games and interactive stories. The other part is the iOS app that allows students to play and explore the things their classmates (or teacher :-D ) created.<br><br>ARIS is a valuable tech tool for differentiated product (tour/story/game). I will utilize ARIS as an option for creating a final product for assessment at the end of a unit. <br><br>NOTE: iOS needed to play! Make sure if using ARIS it is inclusive and there are iOS systems available to everyone!</div>]]></description>

It is also highly beneficial to refresh lab safety training. <br><br>I will utilize Flinn the high school lab safety contracts. They are incredibly thorough and require a student/parent signature.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="http://lookslikescience.tumblr.com/">http://lookslikescience.tumblr.com/</a><br><mark><br></mark>A blog that showcases a diverse range of scientists and what they do.<br><br>I would use this at the beginning of the year in an intro unit to uncover bias in science. Many students have anxiety around STEM and find it inaccessible. A lot of this fear comes from stereotyping.<br><br>After a google image search of "science/scientist" and reflection, I would then have the students explore and reflect on this blog.<br><br>Students could also use this as an exemplar for possibly creating their own student ran science blog.</div>]]></description>
