There are two main group of the birth control methods, temporary birth control can permanent birth control.
Birth control is important for not having any pregnancies temporarily or family planning as it allows a couple to decide how big a family they want based on their financial capability or other considerations such as career goals.
Through birth control, fertilization between the male and female gametes is obstructed by natural or artificial means known as contraception or contraceptive methods.
temporary birth control is divided into natural and artificial means
natural:
1.abstinence(the total withdrawal from any sexual intercourse)
2.rhythm method( the withdrawal from having sexual intercourse during the fertile period or the woman's menstrual cycle)
artificial:(man-made,barrier and chemical methods)
1.contraceptive pills(also known as birth control pills)
2.condoms(for male)
3.cap/diaphragm(for female)

People also choose abortion when they have unwanted pregnancies, because of premarital sex(the act of sexual intercourse before marriage).Teen pregnancies are very common to have abortion due to the teen and their family are not incapable of supporting the child financially or the person is not ready to be a parent.
Another reason is because of health or safety reasons, example when the mother and child's life are both threatened, therefore the pregnancy is being ended.
An additional reason is that the couple may want to focus on their career before they start planning on their family.
