Environmental Impact of Energy by ANDREW HOLAN

First, read the webpages of data over Earth's systems and the impacts that different types of energy production cause. Afterwards, come here and write your opinion as to which energy production type has the most harmful impact on the environment. Also explain what leads you to believe it has the worst impact and give supporting evidence and comparison to the other types of energy.

Natural gas is one of the ways we generate energy, but like coal and oil, you need to burn. And once its gone, its gone. Although when burned in a plant it has significantly less CO2 emissions that coal, the amount that is burned totally overwhelms it. furthermore, not all of the natural gas that is mined gets used. Because of how costly it is to transport and refine, it is usually just burned at the dig site, releasing more pollution into the air than if it were burnt at a plant. And finally, cows. Cows were not in the article, but they still are the largest producers of methane gas.

Climate change is the most serious effect from the use of coal as a source of energy. Climate change has begun to destroy the world's ecosystems as Glaciers shrink, there is a loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise, and longer, more intense heat waves. The climate change isn't the only adverse affect from coal power though, the pollution is a huge issue. The burning of coal causes heavy metals to be release into the air causing health issues such as asthma, brain damage, cancer etc. The leftover ash from the coal produces more than 100 million tons of coal ash every year. This ash often ends up in ponds and lakes and contaminates waterways and drinking water supplies.

I would say coal is the worst impact energy because it has a huge health impact like asthma and breathing difficulties, and also brain damage, heart problems, cancer and many more. This can be huge risk to many people but the climate change is coals most serious subject chemically the coal is mostly made up with carbon but when it is burned and it reacts with oxygen in the air and becomes carbon dioxide which is a heating -trap. so when it released it goes above the earth limits. Coal can look harmless but it does the most harm to people and the climate.

Oil and petroleum products are used to fuel vehicles and heat homes, but the effect of harvesting oil and petroleum is extremely severe. According to the article "Oil and Petroleum Products Explained: Oil and the Environment", the harvesting of oil, which is known as hydraulic fracturing, causes huge rocks to fracture with an enormous amount of water, which will eventually be discarded "by injection into deep wells, typically into saltwater aquifers. The injection of wastewater can cause earthquakes that may cause damage and are large enough to be felt". The waste of water, which could also mix with oil products and disperse chemicals into aquatic groundwater habitats, would be a huge waste for the nations that lack water. On the other hand, the use of wind energy could generate clean electricity with the use of turbines and generators, which could replace the fuel for vehicles and the methods of heating.

The main reason coal is the most harmful energy source is the environmental impact of climate change from carbon dioxide released when coal burns. Another reason I think it's the most harmful energy source for the environment is the air pollution. According to the article on the impact of coal, burning coal releases "...mercury, lead, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, particulates, and various other heavy metals." While some would argue that sources like solar energy also use or create dangerous materials, with solar energy, companies have incentive to recycle these materials (according to the solar impact article), whereas with coal, the pollutants are clearly not even contained and disposed of properly, let alone recycled. They just get released into the atmosphere, affecting public health.

It releases harmful chemicals into the air that cause damage to humans and the environment, with health effects going as extreme as premature death. It also leaves behind ash, which builds up in huge amounts and causes water pollution and can even contaminate drinking supplies. The carbon released by the burning of coal causes an excess in carbon dioxide, which produces a runaway greenhouse effect that causes climate change. The consequences of climate change can be seen in every part of the world, causing not just an increase in the overall temperature of the planet, but also drought, rising sea levels & flooding, extreme weather, and the extinction of species.

In the short run, coal is dangerous because mining coal can be deadly for any workers on site and the land that the coal is mined from is decimated as they extract the resource from the ground. In the long run, when coal is burned to produce energy, it produces highly deadly gases that build up in the atmosphere and pollute the surrounding area. Also while mining coal, the machinery used to mine run off of gasoline and diesel which also produce toxic pollutants that destroy the environment.

I think coal is the most harmful because it releases airborne toxins and chemicals into the air. It can also pollute the water from coal mines. It is also a cause of global warming because it releases carbon dioxide and increase sea levels and warm the earth above the normal limit.

The amount of space that wind takes up does not compensate for how much energy it produces. It can harm wildlife as it invades land and habitats for animals as they are forced to migrate or co exist with the turbines as their homes are damaged. Visual and noise pollution are also huge problems due to the size and noise production from the turbines that is consistent and does not stop.

Coal has the most harmful impact on the environment. This is because the burning of fossil fuels releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere which increases CO2 levels and traps heat; thus contributing to global climate change. Then, the combustion of coal releases the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide during combustion. In fact, climate change is coal's most critical and long-term global impact, when compared to other energy production types such as solar energy, which creates clean, renewable power from the sun and benefits the environment.

Coal is known to be the most harmful for the environment and its atmosphere because fossil fuels releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. It increases levels of CO2 and other gasses, trapping heat, and contributing to global climate change.
This energy source is a negative environmental impact to society, however fossil fuel resources are limited which means it is not reliable. However, other energy sources like wind, solar, natural gas, and etc don't harm the environment and are unlimited, which benefits the Earth overall.

When coal burns it can release numerous airborne toxins and pollutants of course it can affect people's health as it can cause cancer,Heart disease, brain damage and breathing difficulties,it can be very deadly.Coal can pollute the water because most of the coal ashes end up water which can be very dangerous if animals decide to drink water from a lake. and finally coal can impact the climate in a bad way for example its consequences on the environment are drought, sea level rise, flooding ,extreme weather and loss of species. This happened because of carbon dioxide .Of course other energy have impacts on the environment but it s not as bad than coal.

Coal is most harmful because of the amount of carbon dioxide it produces. Chemically, coal is mostly carbon, which, when burned, reacts with oxygen in the air to produce carbon dioxide, a heat-trapping gas. When released into the atmosphere, carbon dioxide works like a blanket, warming the earth above normal limits. Also, In the United States, coal accounts for roughly one-quarter of all energy-related carbon emissions.
